Stayed on well to take a 3m hunter chase at Exeter (good-to-firm) under today's rider earlier this month. Previous point-to-point form this season had been disappointing and not certain to appreciate this drop in trip.

Won on this card in 2016 and successful over 2m4f at Dingley (good) in a point-to-point last month. Well beaten when finishing eighth at Cheltenham (good) subsequently and an interesting runner in this.

Twice a winner in 2017 including when odds-on at Godstone (good-to-firm) in a four runner contest last month. Beaten 3L at Parham (good-to-firm) subsequently and having his first run over regulation fences in over two years today.

Finished 10L fourth at Parham (good-to-firm) on his most recent start last month. Useful horse a few years ago but last success came in February 2014.

Won twice in 15 point-to-point starts and well held fourth at Stafford Cross (good-to-soft) last month. Drop in trip looks likely to suit here and has his regular jockey in the saddle today.

Forecasts

Curraigflemens (10/11), Brunswick Gold (11/4), Hazy Tom (6/1), Mountain Cliche (8/1), Swallowshide (16/1)

Verdict

CURRAIGFLEMENS was successful at this meeting in 2016 and can take this grassroots event this time around. The selection was successful in a competitive five runner contest on his penultimate outing and ran well for a long way in a much better race than this at Cheltenham last time. Second place can go the way of Mountain Cliche who drops in trip here having won at Exeter last time out while Brunswick Gold can take third on his return to regulation fences.
  1. Curraigflemens
  2. Mountain Cliche
  3. Brunswick Gold
