Allotted a fairly stiff mark for his initial runs in handicaps after showing up well in a Musselburgh maiden hurdle. Handicapper is starting to relent though and he might find this grade a little easier.
Dropped a long way in the weights since he's joined this yard and ran a lot better last time out over a shorter trip around here. Travelled well in that race and would have a chance if he could repeat that run here although consistency hasn't proved his strong point.
Strong travelling sort who has yet to win over hurdles despite going close on the last few occasions. Ran creditably last time out at Kelso but the first win is proving elusive although this grade is a little easier.
First runner at the track for the yard who won on his initial start for the stable after a break joining from Mark Rimell where he looked less than straightforward. Change of tactics (led this time) brought about a real improvement when winning at Ffos Las and he could well improve again although needs to have his quirky side kept in check.
Still a maiden over hurdles although the run last time out was a step back in the right direction. Overall though others have far more scope despite the declining mark.
May be one of the few in this field that may be able to step forward after he showed some promise last time out returning from a break. Likely to strip fitter for his Wetherby run and off a mark of 89 should be able to make some further progress here.
Yet to win a race over hurdles/fences and back over hurdles last time on a first-time visor (replaced blinkers) he ran poorly with his jumping very hit and miss. Headgear totally dispensed with here off a career low mark.
Leading Northern rider takes the mount for the first time and he would be interesting on the form that he showed at Kelso in January on his handicap debut and up in trip (3m). Showed promise there and was only outstayed by a couple of mudlarks but he's failed to build on that run since (jumping poor) and would need to repeat his Kelso run here to get involved.
Yard appear to be on the up over the past week or so but this one has shown little so far over hurdles and still figures off a tough enough handicap mark.
Hurdles form so far has looked modest albeit there was one run at Kelso in September that gave some hope that he wasn't a lost cause. Break may well have helped and the yard have a decent enough record here.
Blinkers worn for the last two starts are dispensed with here and replaced by first-time cheekpieces. Only one piece off form that would be good enough here - a second at Musselburgh on penultimate start off a 3lb lower mark but others have stronger claims.
Has often looked as though she will be able to pick up a low-grade staying event and was only 9/2 when running third at Sedgefield over 3m3f last time out. Could probably do with a little further here but if it turns into a test she would clearly have a chance.
Lightly-raced over the past couple of years and has to run from 1lb out of the handicap here and returns from a break here.
Recorded just one completion in his last five runs and with his last three runs reading FPP and has very little solid form over hurdles and runs from out the handicap here.
Forecasts
Bhakti (5/2), Final Fling (9/2), Cuil Rogue (5/1), Moscow Calling (12/1), Rivabodiva (14/1), Broadway Belle (16/1), Solway Trigger (16/1), Spoils Of War (18/1), Kings Eclipse (20/1), Knocklayde Sno Cat (20/1), Eager To Know (22/1), Devils Water (25/1), Gentleman James (40/1), Son Of Feyan (40/1)
An open and competitive race for the grade and if Bhakti turns up on the same form as last time out he could well provide Tom Lacey with a Perth winner at the first attempt and reward what will be a very long journey. A few of these have been given a chance by the handicapper and both Rivabodiva and Cuil Rouge qualify on that score. Both Kings Eclipse and Broadway Belle can be given a chance on previous form but FINAL FLING looks the pick on his Wetherby run last time as long as this doesn’t come too quickly on his second start after a long break.
- Final Fling
- Broadway Belle
- Bhakti
