Cost £170,000 and is a well-related individual that should at least cope with the minimum trip judging by his pedigree. His yard is in good from and, given that he made good progress when finishing second at Taunton last time out, it's noteworthy that he is kept in a maiden rather than a handicap. Sets the stand on official ratings and is high on the shortlist.
Won a point-to-point in Ireland over 3m but has shown he can cope with this sort of trip with solid efforts in a couple of bumpers up to press. Going the right way and interesting if supported.

Only modest form so far under rules (did win a point-to-point over 3m for his previous trainer) but showed a little improvement at Sedgefield last time out. Needs to step things up another notch but gets on well with tonight's rider, so will have plenty of assistance from his 5lb claimer.

Has shown glimpses of ability over hurdles but may already need to step up in trip before we see the best out of him. Has won over 3m in point-to-point, so quite feasible he will make an impact over further in due course.

Cost 52,000 gns but was only modest on the Flat (won on the AW off 68) and the switch to hurdles is possibly an afterthought. However, he has made steady progress and, assuming he can build on his latest second at Towcester, he will be a player in this company.

Respectable effort on hurdles debut at Towcster but already has a bit to find with Elusive Cowboy so may have to settle for a minor role once more.

Forecasts

Bach De Clermont (8/15), Charlie Papa Lima (10/3), Elusive Cowboy (15/2), West Class (20/1), Stonecoldsoba (33/1), West To Crossgales (66/1)

Verdict

The sights have been lowered for BACH DE CLERMONT, but he has shaped as if he can pay his way in the jumping game and will be hard to master if he runs to the level of his latest outing. Elusive Cowboy is also progressing under this code of racing and can thrown down the gauntlet, while Charlie Papa Lima is another with scope to improve now he races with obstacles in the way. West To Crossgales may need further than this but appeals as the best option from the remainder.
  1. Bach De Clermont
  2. Elusive Cowboy
  3. Charlie Papa Lima
