Won a point-to-point over 3m, is useful over hurdles and from a yard that does well with this type of animal. Also not expected to have too issues with stamina and won't mind any juice in the ground. Case looks solid for the shortlist even though he has to give weight away all round and is yet to jump a regulation fence under rules.
Won a conditional riders hurdle over 2m3f at Warwick last November but seemed to lose his way afterwards. Plenty of scope for the switch to fences, though. One to bear in mind from a highly respected yard.
Likeable pedigree for the chasing game and showed signs of ability during a light campaign in point-to-points. Also adapted well to hurdles last season but the handicapper looks to have his measure in that sphere just now. Worth a look in the betting.
Finally got off the mark over fences when he won a four-runner handicap at Chepstow last month. Just 1lb higher today and this doesn't appear to be much stronger; but he still looks vulnerable to an improving type.
Getting his act together over fences but it has taken time and he does have a tendency to disrespect his obstacles. Won well at Kempton last time out, however, and has to be respected from just a 3lb higher mark.
Yard won the 2015 renewal of this race with a similar type, so safe to say the homework has been handed in. However, he has already dropped 10lb in the ratings over hurdles so needs to improve greatly for the switch to fences.

Likely to be a tight little race and quite possible that the likes of Washed Ashore, whose yard won this in 2015, and Royal Plaza will come into their own now they tackle a stiff test of their jumping abilities; while Such A Legend can be hard to pass when he gets it right and it would be no surprise if his experience becomes a telling factor near the finish. However, MINELLA ARIS has a hatful of attributes that appeal for a race of this nature and he just edges the nomination this time around even though he has to give weight away all round,
