Unraced Requinto gelding purchased for 16,000 gns as a yearling. Half-brother to Flat winners All Of Me, Ixelles Diamond and Empress Leizu but probably best watched on debut.

Evening Hill196
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: P J Dobbs| T: R Hughes
5/2
Bought for 18,000 gns as a yearling. Made his debut six months ago in what has developed into a modest Kempton maiden. Yard are finding winners hard to come by at present.

Sonnetist
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Tom Marquand| T: R Hannon
4/1
Son of Poet's Voice cost 25,000 gns and is related to some minor winners. Worth a check in the market with the yard's three-year-olds having made a good start to the campaign.

Valley of Rocks217
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: F Norton| T: C & M Johnston
2/1
Contested two above-average maidens at the back end of last season and acquitted himself well on both occasions. Dropped in class and very much the one to beat.

Zulu16
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Ryan Tate| T: B R Millman
10/1
Signs of improvement last time but had the run of the race that day. Remains with plenty to find on form.

Kyshoni
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: T P Queally| T: M Murphy
18/1
£20,000 half-sister to triple winner Shaakis. Stable adopt a patient approach with their horses so probably best watched with an eye to the future.

Queen Moon
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Oisin Murphy| T: A M Balding
8/1
Daughter of Lawman purchased for €8,000. Makes limited appeal on pedigree but worth a check in the market for a race lacking in depth.

Forecasts

Valley of Rocks (2/1), Evening Hill (5/2), Sonnetist (4/1), Queen Moon (8/1), Zulu (10/1), Kyshoni (18/1), Act Swiftly (25/1)

Verdict

VALLEY OF ROCKS is the clear form pick in this having contested a Leicester maiden won by the 100 rated Utmost and where the second and third were both subsequent winners at Newmarket. None of those with previous experience can match that with Evening Hill finishing just ahead of a 64 rated horse at Kempton and Zulu soudly beaten behind a 67 rated filly at Salisbury. Queen Moon and Sonnetist represent powerful yards on their respective debuts but neither have pedigrees that set the pulse racing.
  1. Valley of Rocks
  2. Evening Hill
  3. Sonnetist
