Only two wins from 27 attempts, though both came over C&D. Decent effort when fifth in the Thirsk Hunt Cup last time and the re-introduction of headgear should help him settle better. Very much respected.
Dual winner in his native France but hasn't been easy to train. Two solid efforts this season, including when beaten 3L behind Alejandro over C&D (good to firm) a fortnight ago and wouldn't need to find much to get involved.
Course-specialist having won five times and never anywhere else. Returned to turf with a respectable effort over C&D a fortnight ago, finishing just behind Eternal in fourth place, and should come on for that. Folly to discount.
Won at Catterick as a juvenile but failed to add his tally in six runs last term. Gelded over the winter and signs of improvement when a close up fifth at Redcar earlier this month. Respected off present mark.
Admirable veteran with 11 wins though has only scored once over a trip this short from 27 attempts. Not at his best over 1m2f here latest and looks opposable on balance.
Twice a winner over 7f here and also won over 1m at Thirsk last back-end before ending the campaign on a low note. No immediate sign of encouragement when well beaten at Pontefract on reappearance, so possibly best watched for now.
Won off a significantly higher mark as a three-year-old in 2015 but seemed to lose his way a little last year. Has run better than the bare result suggests in both starts over 1m this season, however, and should make his presence felt.
Was winning for the second time in six starts when scoring over 1m at Carlisle (good to soft) last summer but has seemingly lost the plot since. Folded very tamely in a first-time hood over C&D on reappearance and has questions to answer.
Lightly-raced maiden but signs of improvement for present yard, including when meeting trouble-in-running behind Eternal and Jackbequick over C&D recently. Potentially well-treated and has to be considered.
Forecasts
Rousayan (9/4), Gerry The Glover (9/2), Eternal (5/1), Detachment (5/1), Jacbequick (7/1), Sovereign Bounty (12/1), Mohab (14/1), Yorkee Mo Sabee (20/1), Save The Bees (33/1)
A good race in which a credible case could be made out for most of the field on various form-lines. Rousayan showed enough at Thirsk last time out to suggest he will be a tough nut to crack on a course which suits, while Detatchment caught the eye in defeat last time and is potentially well-treated. The one to beat, however, may be GERRY THE GLOVER who has shown more than enough in both starts this season to suggest he can win off his present mark.
- Gerry The Glover
- Rousayan
