Improved on last year's Newbury debut when just headed on his return to action in a Yarmouth maiden last month (1m, good to firm). Entitled to come on for that again and step up in trip looks positive. Sets the standard.
10,000 gns yearling and half-brother to three winners from 6f-1m1f. Dam won over 6f at two and later over 7f and is a half-sister to Listed winners Yarastar (French 1m2f) and Emirates Gold (UAE 1m). Interesting debutante given stable's newcomers have been performing well.
Related to a number of winners over middle distances and staying trips. Ran green on debut in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket (1m). Should benefit for the experience and this step up in trip. Yard in good form and he is an interesting debutante.
Has seen the racecourse twice in quick succession this year, having not raced as a juvenile. Well beaten at both Redcar and more recently Thirsk, both over a mile. He will probably appreciate this extra 2f, but looks likely to become more interesting when handicapping.
Ran well enough for a long way on his Ripon debut, where he was not asked too many serious questions when the leaders had gone about their business. Should improve a fair bit for both that and this step up in trip and he is another interesting angle to this contest.
Half-brother to the talented 7f-1m1½f winner Usherette (inc. Group Two) and Listed 1m-1m1f winner Show Day out of a French Listed-placed 1m1½f-1m2½f winning full-sister to US 1m3f Grade Two winner Expansion. Gelded prior to this debut, but this looks a good place for him to start and stable in good form.
Had just the one run for Roger Varian when beaten 29L at Nottingham in November, after which he was gelded and then joined current stable. His unraced dam is closely-related to 1m2½f Group Two winner and Oaks runner-up Secret Gesture, plus other classy middle distance performers and he could now do better over this trip.
€50,000 yearling and closely-related to French 1m-1m1½f winner Max's Spirit. Also half-brother to 1m4f-1m6f winner Crakehall Lad. Dam is an unraced half-sister to Group Three 2yo winners over 7f and 1m. Another newcomer to take an interest in and a market check is suggested.
Most of her page points to speed at up to 1m, though she is a half-sister to US Grade Three winner Snowbell, who scored over trips from 7f-1m1f. Sire Tiznow specialised over today's trip, so perhaps she has taken more of an influence from him. Likely to put up a decent effort and also to come on for this introduction.
Half-sister to several winners including Listed 1m6f scorer The Twisler; 1m4f winner Kunegunda and 1m2f winner Hot Diamond. Dam was Listed-placed over this trip and a half-sister to King George winner Pentire. Lovely pedigree and yet another here of interest here, although likely she may need the run and probably further.
Well beaten in maidens over today's trip at both Redcar and Pontefract so far and looks to have an very tough task today. Likely to get more competitive when handicapping.

A really interesting opener with Alwahsh setting the standard of those to have already run. He is not taken on lightly, but there are several others in here with possible claims and the suggestion is POWDERHOUSE. Charlie Appleby's runners are in cracking form and this Dubawi gelding is both the son of a debut winner and half-brother to one in Usherette, while he represents a yard that has had two winning three-year-old debutantes in the past week. The yard's other runner Pilgrim's Treasure could also go close. His half-brother Way Of Wisdom was one of those debutantes to score last week and he has the benefit of a run. Born To Be Alive, Dawaaleb, Bicolour and Shymkent are others to note in a race that should prove informative.
