Showed some ability when wearing a hood for her debut and was tried in different headgear (cheekpieces) last time out on handicap debut at Carlisle. Failed to progress there really finding very little for pressure and finishing a disappointing fifth.

Formerly with Warren Greatrex he's never really quite cut it over hurdles (0/10) and has looked a rather awkward customer. Scored a surprise win on the AW last time out off a mark of 62 and given that run off a hurdles make of 96 (career low) he should be able to make some sort of impression although he's not one to feel totally solid about.

Despite his consistent tow of form figures he's really not one that you would want to totally trust. Generally travels well but finds little and a place looks the best that he can hope for again here.

Partnered by a good amateur here he's won two of his last three starts and improved on his C&D win under an enterprising ride at Warwick last time out. Given an 8lb rise for that win which looks a little harsh but one of the more reliable types in this.

May well have been well positioned in the race he won at Newton Abbot recently (first run for this yard) over 2m5f but won easily enough despite a scare at the last. Now carries a 7lb penalty for that win (could well go up more) and should still have enough pace to be effective over this shorter trip.

Has looked regressive on the Flat of late (well beaten in last two AW starts) and pulled-up last two hurdles starts and hard to be positive about her here.

Not won for over three years now and looking harder and harder to win with even in a weak contest like this.

Forecasts

Clearly Capable (6/5), Goodnight Charlie (2/1), Wazowski (4/1), Asockastar (9/2), Three Colours Red (9/1), Storm Alert (9/1), Ducloyne Lady (10/1), The Kvilleken (14/1), Your Turn (33/1), Amber Flush (40/1), Tribal Dance (50/1)

Verdict

A distinct lack of solid form in this handicap hurdle and it could well develop into a battle between Clearly Capable and GOODNIGHT CHARLIE both of whom appeared to get the run of the race last time when winning. With winning form in short supply the latter may have been presented with another opportunity here though and has already shown he’s suited by this C&D. Three Colours Red hasn’t really impressed over hurdles so far but does come here off an AW win while you could give chances to Wazowski off a falling mark and the unreliable but strong travelling The Kvilleken.
  1. Goodnight Charlie
  2. Clearly Capable
  3. Wazowski
