Winner three times already over hurdles including over an extended 2m5f (good-to-firm) at Exeter in a three runner contest last month. Attempting to follow up when beaten 1L by a stablemate at the same track subsequently and likely to run well on handicap and chasing debut.

Successful three times over hurdles including at Worcester over 2m7f on good ground last October. Best chase effort came when 4L second at Exeter in February but below par twice since then.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: R Johnson| T: Henry Oliver| OR:  122
7/4
Placed twice over fences in December 2015 but subsequent chase starts have been relatively poor including when falling when odds-on for a 2m novice handicap here in November. Cheekpieces worn for second placed finish over hurdles at Chepstow last time out are retained for this step up in trip and return to chasing.

Finished 12L third in first time cheekpieces (retained today) off a 2lb higher mark over C&D on good ground last month. Placed off higher marks over hurdles and an interesting runner in this contest.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: Adrian Heskin| T: David Dennis| OR:  117
9/1
Point-to-point winner in June 2016 and successful in a maiden hurdle at Southwell (good) over 3m in September. Well beaten on return from nearly six months off the track at Warwick last month and makes his chasing debut in this.

Forecasts

Ozzy Thomas (7/4), Hedley Lamarr (9/4), Rouge Devils (5/1), Herbert Park (6/1), Doitforjoe (9/1)

Verdict

ROUGE DEVILS can make a winning handicap debut on his first outing over fences here. The selection broke his maiden over hurdles in a three runner contest on his penultimate outing and appeared to appreciate the step up in trip when second of three last time out. Hedley Lamarr has run well off higher marks over hurdles in the past and can claim second in this contest with Ozzy Thomas, runner-up over hurdles last time out taken to claim third on his return to chasing.
