Rattled off a quick hat-trick in this sphere in the autumn concluding with a success off a mark of 106 on good ground at Plumpton in November. Freshened up and avoiding the winter ground thereafter, posted a decent return at Warwick last month (runner up) and should go well despite a further 2lb rise. Now 12lb higher than his last winning mark.
One time talented chaser for Keith Reveley, who had shown he retained some verve from the front on two occasions at Sedgefield earlier this year (back from a nine month break), and might have been placed behind Nuts Well at Newcastle last month but for unseating this rider at the last.
Three time winner for David Pipe, and now 8lb lower than his last success (over fences) at Perth in September 2015 (2m4f). Moderate showing in three runs in chases for this trainer during the early part of 2016, and back from an eleven month break is switched to the smaller obstacles.
Game mare who thrives at this track. Lost nothing in defeat when going under to Atomix and Chieftains Choice over 2m last week. She'd previously won over this trip (the race for the second year in succession) in April, and commands respect from a 5lb higher mark (113). Wears her heart on her sleeve the hard way from the front.
Beat subsequent winner Notnow Seamus by 17L on heavy ground at Ayr in March (2m5f maiden hurdle), but an opening mark of 114 proved beyond her on her handicap debut 18 days later over C&D when seventh of ten to Modulus (Beyondtemptation fifth). Might be fresher for a break, but different ground forecast today.
Maiden, but twice placed over C&D during October and November 2016 (although well held). Might have needed both recent races after a six month break, but well behind Beyondtemptation over C&D last month, and much work required to turn that form around.
Forecasts
Earls Fort (13/5), Beyondtemptation (3/1), Kalaharry (7/2), Vertigo (4/1), Border Breaker (10/1), Brave Spartacus (11/1)
It's Hexham, so that means that the adorably tough Beyondtemptation will do battle. As always, she ran her race last week, but was picked off by a pair of slightly classier rivals and that could again prove the headline story this afternoon with EARLS FORT sent North by Neil Mulholland. This seven-year-old is ideally suited by decent ground and whilst steadily climbing the weights, his handicap form from the South might be slightly stronger than that achieved by Beyondtemptation in the North. Of the others, Vertigo might have found the race coming too quickly when well beaten by Modulus on his C&D handicap debut in March.
- Earls Fort
- Beyondtemptation
- Vertigo
