Yet to win under National Hunt rules, but would appear geared up for a summer campaign for his new trainer having been absent since finishing 11L second to My Brother Sylvest (for Dr Richard Newland) in a Southwell seller in August 2016. A surprise he's good enough despite the small field.
Enjoyed a good start to the year as a novice in the summer of 2016 after leaving a Flat career for Mark Johnston, winning at Uttoxeter and Worcester (2m4f). However, his form tailed off a fraction, including when upped to 2m7f in September, and he makes his return back over a much shorter trip. Ground conditions unlikely to be a problem.
Consistent enough this year since winning a Musselburgh maiden hurdle in January, and this trip should suit. However, the handicapper probably has him just where he wants him at the moment having been comfortably held (third) behind Great Fighter at the Perth April Festival (2m good).

Forecasts
Trafalgar Rock (11/10), Idder (11/8), Cousin Oscar (13/8), Gran Maestro (9/2)
Another poor turnout, but an ideal opportunity for one of these horses to gain a handicap success. COUSIN OSCAR is the least exposed in this grade, and whilst it's debatable if a mark of 127 is wholly accurate, this is far weaker than the race he contested on his handicap debut at Aintree last month, and he's taken to make all wearing the first time hood.

- Idder
