Going the right way this year and duly bolted up in 7f handicap at Limerick ten days ago sporting first-time visor (retained here). Has been raised 9lb on that success but handles this surface and could be capable of going very close again.
Just the two runs last year, wining a C&D maiden in September when last spotted, makes handicap debut now in return to action and no surprise if there is more to come.
Has gone well in three starts at this track in maidens, hitting the frame twice over this trip. Makes handicap debut now and is one to be taken seriously, with booking of Smullen certain to do no harm.
Put last year's form behind him with winning reappearance in 7f handicap at Leopardstown last month despite once more being slowly away. Is raised 7lb on that effort but has potential to do better.
No match for Hailstone last time at Limerick and despite helpful pull at the weights is unlikely to turn things around with that rival. Holds decent place claims once again.
Two wins from four starts here, both this year and including over the trip, has been behind a few of these rivals on turf since but should relish switch back to the AW and isn't easy to rule out back here.
Forecasts
Hailstone (15/8), Settle For Bay (5/2), Jon Ess (7/2), Melisandre (6/1), Lady Rosebud (10/1), Dinky Inty (20/1)
Previous C&D winner Hailstone is much-respected after last month's stylish turf success at Limerick but it is a concern that he's facing a 9lb hike for his troubles and that might just be enough to ground him. Dinky Inty, second to him at Limerick, gets a pull at the weights to help try and turn the tables while Lady Rosebud may be able to put her turf form behind now back here on the Polytrack. Settle For Bay must break quicker but there could be plenty more to come from handicap debutant JON ESS, who has run well here in maiden company and has the assistance of Smullen now going handicapping which should be a great help.
- Jon Ess
- Hailstone
- Lady Rosebud
