Comes from a yard that have very much sprung to life over the past few days and this C&D winner from last year needs respecting here off a 2lb higher mark. Effectively still well handicapped on his old form he runs here without his usual tongue-tie (worn for his last two wins) and may just need this returning from a break.
Not beyond the realms of belief that his new yard (this will be his third run for them) will be able to take advantage of a plummeting mark soon. Never been rated this low before and showed that he still has a little ability last time out at Catterick (came from a long way back) and may be suited by this mile trip.
Yard have had success here last year (landed some successful gambles) and this one returned to form out of the blue last time out to end a two year losing spell. That win at Gowran Park came under a positive ride when well treated on his old form and if he were in the same mood here he would be a dangerous one to leave alone up front.
Can on occasions shape well in his races but does always look a rather hard ride (looks awkward under pressure). Flattered only to deceive once more at Musselburgh last time out and not one to trust implicitly with the losing tally starting to get longer and longer.
Has managed to win around here twice both times over shorter trips the last time off a basement mark and followed that run with a poor one back off a higher mark. Hasn't looked in much form over hurdles during the winter struggling for form for the most part and will more than likely face pressure for the lead if ridden prominently here.
Taking a look at his first four runs of last year he shaped well on all of them particularly when winning here over 7f in May on soft going off a mark of 50. That was a weak race but he did leave the impression that he was capable of better although he ended the season on a low note. Would be of interest if he was ready to go after a long break off a mark of 53 partnered by a very capable apprentice.
Still a maiden after 12 Flat starts after previously being with Dermot Weld in Ireland and has had just the two runs on the Flat for this yard (also one run over hurdles). Both runs on all AW have been lacking in promise and even in this lowly grade he has something to find.
Reaching the veteran stage now for one on the Flat but did manage to win here last year over 7f off a 6lb higher mark. Failed to back that run up and was struggling a little for form a little when last seen in the early part of the year.

Forecasts
Not A Bad Oul Day (6/4), New Abbey Angel (3/1), Duncan Of Scotland (6/1), In Focus (8/1), Norville (9/1), Joyful Star (11/1), Gone With The Wind (12/1), Rioja Day (25/1), Rajapur (33/1)
Not many solid options in this race and it’s hard to be definitive about the outcome with a few returning from breaks. Gone With The Wind is still well handicapped and his yard have been going well of late and he’s of interest along with In Focus. Joyful Star gives the impression that there is a bigger run on him but he might just need this and it may be better to rely on the fitness of NOT A BAD OUL DAY as he attempts to repeat his Gowran Park win. New Abbey Angel is likely to be on the premises but he’s flattered to deceive on more than one occasion now and is a hard one to place much faith in.
- Not A Bad Oul Day
- Joyful Star
- In Focus
