No win since a Windsor maiden in July 2014 and has only had 16 races across both codes despite his age. Not particularly impressive when last seen on the Flat at Catterick last month and is one to discount from calculations here.
Steps up to this trip for the first time having looked like he wants further when trying intermediate distances. First run since June and switched to a new trainer so all will depend on what effect that has had, but he should be a leading contender on form.
Still a maiden but has run his best races over the longest trips he's tried so far, and this is another new longest race for him. Also dropped to his lowest handicap mark yet and has shown he has some ability, such as when nearly winning a Catterick maiden last June.
Lightly-raced gelding who acquitted himself fairly on handicap debut at Catterick last time (good to firm, 1m4f). Steps up in trip now which should suit, and remains on the same mark which is a big positive.
Not seen on the Flat since June 2014, and before that not since 2012. That clearly isn't an ideal preparation for this race, and he has looked past his best over hurdles as well of late. Also likely wants softer ground than this.
No win on the Flat since 2014 for this veteran but went close at Musselburgh on Thursday on his return to this code, when just held close home over this trip. On the same mark here and should go close if building on that promise.

There are probably a few too many question marks surrounding Hayward Field, for all he should relish the step up in trip, so the suggestion is STAR GLITTER. David O'Meara's charge ran well on handicap debut at Catterick when last seen and given he remains on the same mark as when being beaten only 4L into fourth that day (having been sent off favourite), he is the selection. At a likely bigger price a small chance is given to Ice Galley, who went close to winning a maiden (also at Catterick) last year and has looked like the sort to improve for a step up to a staying distance.

- Hayward Field
