Two handicap wins last year; including over this trip at Epsom in September. Slowly away, he showed nothing on his return at Redcar last month and needs to show more spark if he is to be competitive off top weight.
Placed in three starts at this track last season, he was campaigned without success in the UAE during the winter. This is much easier and his capable trainer has already struck in Scotland this season.
Ended his 3yo campaign with a win and two seconds and can be expected to continue that progress with relatively few miles on the clock. Races off a career-high mark and may be better for this reappearance run.
Debut run for new yard after three wins for previous trainer. May need this first outing of the season and would benefit from coming down a few pounds.
Useful for Willie Haggas two seasons ago, but not at his best for current trainer last season. Has tumbled down the weights and is on a handy mark, but is likely need to need this first outing of the campaign.
In terrific form on the AW at Dundalk earlier this year and ran a fine race returned to turf at Leopardstown last time. At the top of his game, is still on the upgrade and likely to take all the beating.
On a long, losing run, but was not too far away on recent AW outings before a slightly disappointing 8th of 15 at Beverley six days ago. Handicapped to be competitive, but likely to find one or two of these too good.
Enjoyed a fruitful 2016 campaign. but not quite so good in two runs for his new trainer. Not disgraced at Beverley last time, though, and the fire seems to be still burning.
Placed three times in four maidens, but has struggled in two subsequent handicaps. In good hands and likely to find a race at some stage, but probably needs more help from the handicapper.
Missed the 2016 season and made no impact on her reappearance run for her new stable at Wolverhampton. Switches to turf for the first time and improvement is needed.
Won twice at this track last season and his two defeats since can be excused. Back to his optimum trip and off a feasible mark, he has plenty in his favour and can make a bold bid to return to winning ways.
In reasonable form last summer, but her form tailed off as the season drew to its close. Has a long absence to overcome and best watched until showing a return to form.
Forecasts
Try Again (7/2), Fivehundredmiles (7/2), So It's War (4/1), Beadlam (10/1), Jordan James (11/1), Be Kool (12/1), Amy Blair (16/1), Auxiliary (16/1), Al Hawraa (16/1), Stardrifter (18/1), Cline (25/1), Indian Giver (40/1)
Not many of these leap off the page, but one which does is TRY AGAIN, who is in fine fettle and may be a step ahead of the handicapper. Fivehundredmiles is respected for a trainer who has already struck north of the border this season, while Beadlam is gradually getting his act together again and may show more this time.
- Try Again
- Fivehundredmiles
- Beadlam
