Won a Ludlow novices' chase earlier in the year but has since lost form both over fences and back over hurdles last time. At her best she stays well and has won on a sound surface, though is probably better with some cut. Dropped in class and headgear added and a market check suggested.
Doncaster novices' hurdle winner in December (2m3½f, good) and ran well next time under a penalty when only just held. Stepped up in class and to this sort of trip, she made a good handicap debut last time and can improve for the fitting of a hood. Stable in good form.
There has been cut in the ground on both occasions that she has won and she is 7lb higher than the latter here. Here two recent defeats were in very good races, so we can forgive her those and if she can run to the level of form of her 10L Ludlow win on this faster ground then she can have a say.
Wide margin winner of a Wetherby maiden hurdle last time (2m3½f, good), but has already won a point-to-point, so likely to be even better over this trip. Mark is probably fair enough and this unexposed performer should go very close.
Two novices' hurdle wins have been on soft and good to firm, the latter at Towcester last time. Makes her handicap debut from the same mark today. This looks tougher, but she is at least in good form and with her claimer on board you couldn't rule her out.
Has improved for each of her three hurdles starts and came good last time when winning a mares' novices' contest at Huntingdon (2m4½f, good). Got the better of a 108-rated opponent by 7½L in that contest so this mark looks fair and she has strong claims if capable of a repeat effort.
Won a bumper on debut and a novices' hurdle at the third attempt at Wincanton on Boxing Day (1m7½f, soft). Stays 2m5f, but has it to prove over this far and also on this faster ground.
Heavy ground Towcester scorer in maiden hurdle company last year but has taken a while to come to hand in handicaps, her best effort being last time at Ludlow (2m5f, good). Pulled up both starts over 3m, so has to prove she gets this far. Was placed twice in bumpers on good.
Won a Cartmel handicap hurdle from a mark of 110 last summer, but well held all starts since. Now 3lb lower than that success, back on better ground and with her jockey's claim, she may get more competitive.
Has won on fast ground, though majority of successes have been when there has been cut underfoot. 5lb higher than when scoring over C&D (soft) last time out and, while she may have had a little more up her sleeve, her record suggests that she will need to be at her very best to follow up.
0-16 under rules but not that long since she was competitive from a mark of 109 over hurdles. Goes into this 5lb lower and worth another try over this far if she is over her only attempt at it when falling heavily last time.
Forecasts
Katy P (4/1), Just Milly (9/2), Land Of Vic (6/1), Toberdowney (8/1), Postbridge (8/1), Pulling Power (9/1), Deja Bougg (10/1), Miss Tongabezi (12/1), Fresh By Nature (14/1), Sheneededtherun (14/1), Cowslip (25/1)
Land Of Vic could show more now dropped in class, while Miss Tongabezi and Cowslip could both be very competitive, though preference is for JUST MILLY, who is improving, comes from a yard in form and may just have the edge sporting a first-time hood.
- Just Milly
- Cowslip
- Land Of Vic
