Chester maiden winner as a juvenile (made all) on his first run over 7f and involved in a nasty fall at the same track last time out. Obviously given time to get over that incident and given a tough task (took on elders) when next seen at Southwell and was unsuited by the way the race developed. This looks a touch easier and a more suitable assignment.
Appears suited by the twists and turns at Beverley having won his maiden there and then a handicap last time out both over the extended 7f. Mark is 4lb higher here and that looks to give him a fairly stiff task.
Had plenty of racing as two-year-old with only a Ripon maiden win over 6f to show for it. Looks worth another try at this trip after her last run at Pontefract on seasonal debut although this mark looks stiff enough.
The first time tongue tie looked to work the oracle on this one after he was starting to look exposed as he bolted up at Beverley last time out. Turned out quickly under a penalty before his new mark kicks in and 4lb well-in even with that impost and will be hard to beat if the quick return doesn't leave a mark.
Switches to handicaps after showing up well in three maidens so far (has looked better over a mile) and possibly found the 7f a little sharp last time out. Possible that he'll show more in handicaps but may well need further than this sharp 7f.
Another who had plenty of racing as a juvenile and is starting to look exposed now. The increased trip and first time blinkers looked to bring about an improved performance last time out (unlucky not to finish closer) but on balance a place may be the best she can hope for here.
Turned in a decent effort and improved on his debut effort for this yard when chasing home Atteq at Beverley. Gets a 6lb turn around in the weight although it's very much a doubt if that will be enough to reverse the form.
Yard are rather quiet at the moment and although she hasn't shaped badly in her maidens runs she didn't really step forward on her handicap debut (in cheekpieces) last time out. Now makes her turf debut with the headgear removed.
Forecasts
Atteq (6/5), Seduce Me (5/1), Proud Archi (11/2), Thomas Cranmer (13/2), Dapper Man (14/1), Mama Africa (16/1), Mr Coco Bean (20/1), The Bard's Advice (40/1)
The relatively quick turnaround is always a worry but there’s no doubt that ATTEQ is well-in here under a penalty and connections will be hopeful that the tongue-tie works as well again. Most of the others look fairly well exposed off their marks although Thomas Cranmer may well still have some improvement in him (lightly-raced) and Seduce Me and Dapper Man look to be a likely pair to battle it out for the places.
- Atteq
- Thomas Cranmer
- Seduce Me
