Vastly improved effort to be second of 18 in a maiden hurdle over this C&D last month at 25/1. Slight jumping error late on undoing any winning chances but should be coming here with leading claim and boosted confidence.
Essentially walked home over C&D last month on second start over hurdles. Has a lot to find on that evidence and yard's record with hurdlers isn't a source of inspiration.
Wasn't unfancied in pair of point-to-point runs this year, though didn't shape well on either occasion and pulled up both times. Similar tale in rules bow at Fairyhouse when tailed off in 2m4f maiden hurdle last month when sent off at 100/1.
Placed in six of 16 runs over hurdles but remains a maiden after 21 trips to the racecourse. May have needed last month's reappearance effort at Tramore and can improve here.
Shown only moderate promise in five maidens so far, twice letting favourite backers down. Was a remote third of 20 at Tipperary last month over 2m and will be tackling this trip for the first time now.
Best effort to date came over C&D in January when just failing in a three-way go at the winning post, travelled well into that race and, but was pulled up at Thurles in March on only run since. Hard to know how to rank him currently as a result, market may be best guide.
Decidedly poor over fences and last month's switch to hurdles over this C&D didn't bring about much respite. Hard to build a case for this 15-race maiden at the moment.
Not much to shout about in point-to-point / bumper form and last month's hurdles bow at Kilbeggan over 2m3f on good ground was also underwhelming. Plenty more required now.
On the evidence of three maiden hurdle outings to date he isn't going to play a leading role in this contest despite stepping up in trip markedly to 3m.
Useful Flat winner in Britain formerly when in the care of Luca Cumani / Roger Varian, hasn't perhaps shown as much as might have been hoped in four starts over these obstacles but there could be more to come.
Has disappointed in three spins over hurdles so far, drop in trip at Thurles in March didn't help and goes sharply back up in distance now. Much to prove however.
Plenty encouragement in three runs over hurdles last year and another solid effort over 2m4f at Fairyhouse last month when ½L second of 25 runners. Further examination of stamina takes place now.
Much improved effort on hurdles bow over this C&D last month, returning a 7L fourth of 18 having been sent off at 100/1. Can take a hand in the finish if building on that showing.
Forecasts
Tamlough Boy (5/6), Carrigmoorna Matt (6/1), Monotype (6/1), Iconic Image (8/1), Hickey's Rock (12/1), Double Windsor (20/1), Whatsinthecorner (20/1), Karkadann (33/1), Cher Why Not (50/1), Is That Marmalade (66/1), Chase The Clouds (66/1), Rebellion Lies (66/1), Lough Derg Lyric (100/1)
TAMLOUGH BOY produced his best effort to date when stepped up in distance to 2m4f at Fairyhouse last month, he wasn't stopping at the line and can open his account over this extended journey now for a trainer whose horses have started this month in good heart. Whatsinthecorner stepped up markedly on previous efforts to be fourth over C&D last month and isn't without hope here while Carrigmoorna Matt and Iconic Image, narrowly denied over C&D in January on his penultimate run, are other worthy of consideration.
- Tamlough Boy
- Whatsinthecorner
- Iconic Image
