His sole career success came on good ground at this track in August 2016 (2m4f), and he performed to a reasonable level over hurdles thereafter. Back from a six month break in staying events on the Flat at Pontefract last month (stablemate Tuscan Gold won one of those races), he's certainly interesting with his stable going well.

Nine time winner (including six on the Flat), but off since Boxing Day when rapidly losing his place early in the race at Huntingdon. Questions to answer and with an inexperienced rider booked.

Plummeted in the weights after some very tame efforts since winning here on his chasing debut in November 2015. Not entirely disgraced on his penultimate start at Bangor in February (over hurdles), and perhaps significant he ventures back North tonight.

A dual winner over this type of trip (2m4f+) in August 2016 for Sean Thomas Doyle at Tramore and Wexford, but well beaten over this C&D on his second start for this trainer in late January. Better last time over 2m at Musselburgh (third) but not an obvious winner in waiting.

15 race maiden, but seems to be getting to grips with racing, and has been placed on five of his last six starts, but unfortunately for connections is steadily climbing in the weights. He was beaten 4L by Starplex most latterly at Newcastle and that horse was well beaten at Perth last week, so whilst respected, he needs to do more upped another 2lb.

Saves his best for this track with five of his seven jumps successes coming here, and was a 7L winner of this contest in 2016 (from a 10lb lower mark). Attracted market support at Hexham late last month, but could only finish eighth of thirteen to Miss Conway.

Forecasts

Captain Mowbray (11/4), Hughesie (3/1), Craig Star (10/3), I'm Still Waiting (7/2), Gran Paradiso (5/1), Sendiym (11/2), Knight's Parade (22/1)

Verdict

Plenty of previous Sedgefield winners in this open looking contest including course specialist Sendiym. However, it is the Fergal O'Brien trained I'M STILL WAITING who looks potentially the most intriguing runner in the line up. He makes his handicap debut wearing the first time hood, with improvement very firmly anticipated. Aged just five, he's far less exposed than any of these rivals (with the exception of Gran Paradiso) and it would be no surprise to see him build upon an improved showing at Market Rasen in January.
  1. I'm Still Waiting
  2. Gran Paradiso
  3. Captain Mowbray
