Recent efforts over hurdles are uninspiring, best effort on the Flat to date arrived over much shorter trip around this time last year.
Hasn't run since well held in maiden hurdle at Galway in July, Flat form is tame and has plenty to prove coming back to the track.
All four runs to date have come in maiden hurdles though even the removal of the obstacles doesn't provoke any confidence there will be a dramatic turnaround in fortune.
Twice a winner over hurdles, he ran well enough in that sphere at Tipperary last month to merit serious consideration for this first outing on the Flat (unplaced in two bumpers). Wears tongue strap.
Has been running with credit on the AW at Dundalk over 1m4f in three spins this year though previous turf run over this trip at Navan in October was poor.
Beaten out the gate in two Lingfield AW maidens, latest over 1m4f in January 2016 and failed to complete in pair of hurdles runs. Off 403 days and makes stable debut here.
First Flat run, struggled to get competitive in three bumpers last year and pulled up over hurdles at Wexford in March. Looks booked for limited role on form.
Three-time winner over hurdles, also scored in a bumper, was not at his best over timber at Fairyhouse 18 days ago having previously gone around in the Supreme Novices' at Cheltenham. Leading amateur booked here and interesting contender.
Mostly disappointing over hurdles last year, unseated late on in a point-to-point outing last month though should at least have garnered fitness there. Makes limited appeal for this Flat debut.
Three-times a winner over hurdles and has shown more than enough in that code to merit serious consideration for this Flat bow. One to note in the market.
Nothing shown in four runs previously, three over hurdles, suggests that he'll get involved when it counts most. Wears tongue strap.
Yet another jumper that boasts good credentials for this, won twice at this track last year over 2m3f, was out of sorts recently over fences but can have a say in this. Wears tongue strap.
Won two of previous three races over hurdles and finished close third in valuable Cork handicap over those obstacles 18 days ago. Has newly-crowned champion amateur on board and trainer remains in solid form. Should be in the shake-up.
Without a win in 17 starts over hurdles, rating in that sphere suggests the mare will struggle to match some of her rivals that are also changing code for this.
Mare was well held over 1m6f at Gowran Park in August in previous Flat attempt and has been a bit of out of sorts over jumps this year, ensuring she doesn't make obvious appeal in this field.
Pulled up in previous two hurdles starts, most recently 99 days ago at Fairyhouse. Efforts in six starts in that code offer little encouragement for this mission.
Finished 5½L adrift of Magna Cartor in 2m hurdles contest at Punchestown when last spotted in October, could have place claims here but isn't receiving the same sort of weight from that re-opposing rival.
Forecasts
Lachares (4/5), Supreme Vinnie (9/2), Magna Cartor (13/2), Game Puppeteer (10/1), Winsor Vixen (20/1), You Can't Catch Me (25/1), Alamgiyr (25/1), Western Daru (25/1), Glenbank King (28/1), Fu's Island (33/1), Racing Again (40/1), Courtin Bb (50/1), Davids Charm (50/1), Back In Black (100/1), Glimmer Of Hope (100/1), The Golden Punto (100/1), Go Be A Hero (100/1)
Lachares has been going the right way over hurdles of late and ought to have a strong say in where this prize goes with his excellent jockey on board. He is priced accordingly however and it might just be worth looking elsewhere in the pursuit of value. To that end, GAME PUPPETEER makes plenty appeal, twice a winner over timber, he's been placed on four more occasions and has a useful 7lb taken off by his rider for this. There are plenty that will have claims if able to transfer jumps form and none more so than Magna Cartor and Supreme Vinnie, both of whom are respected along with the mare Winsor Vixen.
- Game Puppeteer
- Lachares
- Supreme Vinnie
