Career-best when winning 14-runner handicap chase at Kilbeggan ten days ago, goes up 7lb for that success but could well have more to offer still.
Beat 8L over 3m here in November when last spotted, races off the same mark and here and tends to be a reliable enough customer, should give his running.
Two wins from 12 starts over fences, latest coming at Naas in September over this trip. Was well below best at Fairyhouse in November when last spotted, is 4lb higher than previous win mark starting back now.
Has been struggling in four runs since joining current trainer from Willie Mullins' yard. Best of his novice form would still give him a bit to find here.
Winner at Punchestown in October over 2m6f but has found increased mark harder to operate off in four outings since, including two weeks ago at Fairyhouse when coming to grief attempting to close on the leaders.
Is not a trustworthy sort but tends to reserve his best efforts for this track, has twice won over fences here and didn't disgrace himself in March over 3m2f, drop back in trip ought to suit returning to this track.
Yet to win in 14 starts over fences, ran promising race on return at Limerick recently though caution is advised as he's run well fresh before and failed to build on it subsequently.
Winner at Thurles in March over 2m2f, a fourth chase success, ran sound race over much shorter trip off this mark since at Limerick and can go well now back up in distance.
Yet to score over fences and owner of a modest record overall, drops 4lb after fading out of contention at Cheltenham in October over longer 3m1f trip when last spotted in November. Trainer may have him primed to go but will need to be at very best to play a role.
Just the one third place in five starts over the bigger obstacles so far. Was pulled up last month at Wexford over much longer trip and hard to fancy on form.
Scored over this sort of trip last June at Downpatrick though was out of sorts in four runs thereafter and returns to action after seven months off with limited appeal in this.
Forecasts
Lucky Pat (7/2), Topper Thornton (7/2), Swantykay (4/1), Net D'Ecosse (7/1), Cecil Corbett (7/1), Boher Call (10/1), Our Sox (12/1), Balnagon Boy (14/1), Empresario (16/1), Drumhart (18/1), Manuka (20/1)
Lucky Pat produced his best effort yet to score at Kilbeggan recently and cannot be easily discounted despite the 7lb increase that he shoulders for his efforts. However, a step up in distance should play into the hands of BOHER CALL, who won nicely at Thurles in February and was not disgraced off this rating over a 2m trip that was shorter than ideal at Limerick since. Fairyhouse faller Cecil Corbett can take a part in the finish if staying on his feet while Balnagon Boy completes the shortlist on his November run here over a longer trip.
- Boher Call
- Cecil Corbett
- Lucky Pat
