Consistent but struggled to get his head in front from similar marks last season, so up against it from topweight against a few with the potential to improve; might also need the outing on seasonal return. However, he represents a highly respected yard and can be expected to be given every assistance from the saddle with Paul Hannagan doing the steering.
Won a couple of sellers for Mick Channon but found life tougher back in handicaps for his new yard. Doesn't look especially well treated here and others make a tad more appeal.
No impact in three maidens up to press and dramatic improvement required to make any sort of impact now he goes into handicaps for the first time.
Nothing to set the pulse racing from his starts so far; but was gelded during the off-season, so possible he may have needed the run on his reappearance at Musselburgh earlier this month. The jury is still out and probably best watched.
Already getting some respite from the handicapper but looked harshly treated on what he's actually achieved so far. Needs to prove his stamina and makes limited appeal.
Improved effort last time out and may have more to offer now he steps up in trip and reverts to racing on turf. Jockey has proved to be worth his claim on a couple of occasions, so decent claims at the weights too.
Likeable breeding and possible that he'll come into his own over slightly further in due course. Three quick starts may have taken their toll last term. The betting may give an indication as to how well he has matured since he was last seen out.
Proven stamina for a mile - won well over the trip on her last start as a juvenile - and may just have been in need of the run when she finished in mid-division at Redcar earlier this month. Interesting if supported.
The type to improve with age and wasn't disgraced on seasonal return at Pontefract on Monday. Needs to step things up again but noted that he was backed at fancy odds and a similar move may be profitable to follow.
Plenty of appeal on pedigree and yard has a good strike-rate with similar types as this track; would be no surprise to see him step things up considerably now he steps up in trip.
Forecasts
Heatongrad (11/4), Mister Moosah (5/1), Helovaplan (6/1), Hotfill (7/1), Barwell (8/1), Lucy's Law (17/2), True Romance (10/1), Channel Packet (18/1), Stevie Brown (22/1), Racemaker (33/1)
The consistent Heatongrad will be a tough nut to crack and there is every reason to expect he'll be cherry ripe for his seasonal bow. However, this trip is likely to bring about some improvement from BARWELL, who has alive chance of getting his handicap career off to a flyer from his lowly rating. Stevie Brown and True Romance are others that have scope for progress and should be monitored closely. A market move for Mister Moosah went astray at Pontefract earlier in the week but the quick reappearance does suggest he is ticking over nicely and would also be dangerous to rule out of the equation.
- Heatongrad
- Barwell
- Stevie Brown
