No win since moving to this yard last year but has been running some consistently nice races at Dundalk, shaping as if this step up in trip should suit. Goes off a workable mark here and could improve further trying this distance for the first time.
C&D winner in December and has gone close both here and at Chelmsford last time out. 4lb higher than at the time of that last win but has shown that he enjoys this surface and could go close once again.
Hasn't been raced on the Flat since September but has been kept fit with a spell over jumps during the winter. Has only been raced five times in this sphere (twice on the all-weather) and there could be more improvement to come, especially following a course win over shorter last year.
Back-to-back C&D winner in December 2015 but hasn't won anywhere since despite now being well below those winning marks. May be losing some his ability in his advancing years and has something to prove now.
Without a win in his career but was perhaps a little unlucky not to get off the mark over hurdles two starts ago, just failing to get to the leader. Less impressive on the Flat and has been especially uninspiring on Tapeta, so there have to be concerns over his effectiveness on this surface.
No win on the Flat since December 2013 and has been well beaten on all of his most recent starts. Steps up to this trip on the level for the first which could help given he has been marginally better over hurdles recently, but plenty more would be needed for him to be involved at the end.
Sprang a surprise at Redcar last August when winning at 25/1 but hasn't shown too much other than that, including when finishing last of all at Chelmsford on the following occasion. Off since and entitled to find a few of these too good.
0/16 in his career so far (including both Flat and jumps) and there is little to suggest that he will manage to get off the mark here, especially with little leniency being shown from the handicapper.
Forecasts
Temasek Star (7/4), Captain Swift (9/4), Want The Fairytale (15/2), With Hindsight (10/1), King Julien (11/1), Rajapur (14/1), Authorative (16/1), Kazoey (28/1)
Captain Swift won over C&D in December has so has to be feared here, despite being a little higher in the weights, while Want The Fairytale has been off the Flat for several months but has been kept fit with several runs over hurdle over the winter. Preference, though, is for TEMASEK STAR. He has been slightly disappointing for Anthony McCann since moving to his yard last year but has still managed to run some fair races, and this step up in trip could be the change he wants to finally get off the mark for his new handler.
- Temasek Star
- Captain Swift
- Want The Fairytale
