Cost £100,000 as a yearling and is closely related to the smart winner up to 1m4f Century and a half-sister to 1m1f winner Privy Garden. Yard have been known to have debut wins in this sphere and given the jockey booking has to be respected here.
From a yard that have made a good start to the season and she showed improved form on her second run over a mile at Doncaster (paid a price for quick move into contention). Looks the sort to go on improving and respected here.
Stable have won this twice in the last four years (once with a debutante) and this daughter of Deep Impact makes her debut here. Sister to several winners in Japan up to 1m4f and the dam won over as far as 1m1f after scoring over 7f as a juvenile. Given the history of the yard in this race she has to be looked at in the market.
Starts life out as a three-year-old after showing promise on two runs as a juvenile although her debut was the better effort. Possibly found her second race coming a bit too soon (started favourite on both starts) and likely to do better this year.
Finished well held in a soft ground backend Newbury maiden over a mile and ran very green. Given her pedigree and background nit a lost cause but one of the less fancied sorts here in what looks a deep maiden.
One of two runners in the race for this stable and looks likely to be the more fancied of the duo. Showed improved form on her only start this year (may have needed the run) when second on the AW at Chelmsford and makes her first start on turf here.
Stable have made a particularly bright start to the season and this one is an interesting contender here after just one run as a juvenile. That came over a mile at Newbury in October on soft ground and she shaped with plenty of promise despite still looking green. Travelled strongly on that occasion and given her connections looks sure to come on for the run.
Shaped well on her debut as a two-year-old when looking to be in need of the experience and ended up being better than the bare result when fourth at Nottingham. Showed the value of that run when taking third on her only subsequent run on the AW at Kempton Park again over a mile. Has a pedigree which says she will stay this trip and another of the improvers in the field from a yard that know how to nurture one like this.
The third one in the field making her debut and is a half-sister to several winners at up to 1m3f. Takes on a tough task on debut though and looks likely to be better for the experience.
Forecasts
Serenada (2/1), Neshmeya (3/1), Fashion Theory (6/1), Pure Shores (15/2), Love Conquers (9/1), Apphia (12/1), So Sleek (16/1), Symbol (25/1), Precious Angel (40/1)
It won’t be a surprise if this turns out to be a very decent fillies maiden with several of these capable of improvement after showing plenty of promise last year. Neshmeya would be high on any shortlist as would Pure Shores and the unraced Love Conquers from a stable that has done well in this race. Fashion Theory gives Godolphin a strong 1-2 punch in this but with the Varian yard up and running his SERENADA is the choice here in a tricky heat. She looked anything but the finished article in her sole start last year and is expected to know far more now with that run and a winter under her belt.
- Serenada
- Neshmeya
- Love Conquers
