Seven runs last year but failed to get his head in front after winning on his debut at Newbury over 6f. All his subsequent runs did come at Listed or Group level though so he was hardly wrapped in cotton wool and he did make the frame on every start bar the bridge too far at Group 1 level last time out. Comes from a yard in good form and deserves a crack at this but does look the second string from the yard.
The most inexperienced in this field with just one run under his belt resulting in a win in at Yarmouth over a mile. Wasn't at all fancied for his debut and he looked at the time and still does an excellent three-year-old prospect. This is obviously a big rise in class for one so lacking in experience but he can't be written off here.
Like three of the other runners in this field he won first time out as a juvenile adding to the terrific record his sire had with his first crop last year. After the initial maiden win which came at Haydock over 7f he showed up well in a higher grade(s) and won a Listed race back at Haydock and a Group 3 in France over 1m1f. Came up short on his last run as a juvenile but that was in the highest grade and he's not without a chance here.
Trained in Ireland last year he makes his first start for his new yard here after winning on his debut at Leopardstown and despite being beaten showing improvement to finish third at Tipperary on his only other start. Yet to try this trip but looks sure to be suited by it and a little further but probably has the most to prove in form terms against the rest of the field.
Very much looks to be the first choice from this in-form yard's two representatives here and the only one of the quintet that didn't score on his debut where he was narrowly beaten in a Goodwood 1m1f maiden. That experience was put to good use when he easily won over the same C&D that he made his debut before being put away from the winter. Created a huge impression when winning on his handicap debut off a mark of 87 at Kempton Park over 1m3f and although he only won a length he was far superior to that. Has lots of scope for improvement and holds a Dante entry later in the month.
Forecasts
Monarchs Glen (5/6), Cunco (5/1), Fierce Impact (11/2), Frankuus (6/1), Intern (12/1)
You could have a good race here between the sons of Frankel with the former wonder horse well represented here by three of his sons in Cunco, Frankus and MONARCHS GLEN with the latter being the one to have created the biggest impression so far. His win on his handicap debut made a mockery of his opening mark and he looks worthy of the rise in grade here. Fierce Impact (a son of another top-class racehorse in Deep Impact) is the one who may give Monarchs Glen most to do after his taking and slightly unexpected win (by the market at least) on his sole juvenile start.
- Monarchs Glen
- Fierce Impact
- Frankuus
