With a clear round would probably have made it three from four over hurdles at Chepstow earlier this month. This sharp track and decent surface promises to suit this keen prominent racer, and with an official rating of 132 he looks the one too beat despite shouldering a double penalty.

In the process of running a decent enough race for Richard Ford when unseating his rider two out in a 2m5f selling hurdle at Wetherby last month. Moved onto a new trainer, and is a five time Flat winner who could do better with time, just not at this level.

Has shown a modest level of form in four previous starts over hurdles which suggests he's not good enough to take a hand in this contest despite the drop in trip from his previous two starts.

Ex Godolphin racer, but remains a hurdles maiden in six starts for his Cartmel based trainer. That said, he's been regularly placed at around this trip, and his decent ground Musselburgh efforts indicate he'll be competitive without necessarily winning.

Twice placed in bumpers for John Kiely, but pulled up injured after the line at Roscommon in September 2014. Back from two and a half years off lately in the Point-to-Point sphere (twice pulled up) and on balance shouldn't be involved unless the market speaks otherwise. Wears a tongue tie.
Stablemate of Hickson, and has shown only minor glimmers so far in three runs over hurdles. 2m at this track could prove more suitable than his last start over 2m4f at Hexham in soft ground.

In rear and fell on hurdles debut over 2m4f at Ffos Las in November 2016 (winded), and only able to finish mid-field behind High Secret at Taunton in January (2m). Unlikely to figure in the placings.

Flat maiden for Marco Botti (four runs), and looked in need of the run when pulled up at Kelso on hurdles (and stable) debut earlier this month. Wears a tongue tie.
Ready 1m2f Ripon handicap winner for Keith Dalgleish in the Straightline silks in June 2016, and beaten by only ¾L by Planetaria when bidding to follow up at Hamilton a few weeks later. Moved on since, and not fluent on hurdles and stable debut at Musselburgh in December 2016. Likely improver.

Three time Flat winner and probably improved on her previous sole hurdles start at Carlisle last month when fourth to Mr Big Shot. Faster ground likely to bring about further steady improvement, but surely better in handicaps in the weeks ahead.

100/1
Flat winner (May 2015), but recalcitrant latterly for Ian Jardine on the level, giving problems at the start on her final two Flat runs. At least set off for her hurdles and stable debut at Kelso a few weeks ago, but that was about the only positive to come from that run.

Forecasts

Top Ville Ben (4/5), Golden Town (3/1), Ramonex (7/1), Dance Of Fire (10/1), Henpecked (12/1), Aldeburgh (14/1), Mr Grumpy (16/1), Hickson (33/1), An Fear Ciuin (40/1), Jammy Moment (100/1), Il Sassicaia (125/1), Loughview Laddie (150/1)

Verdict

TOP VILLE BEN is without doubt down the pecking order at Sevenbarrows, but despite the concession of a double penalty has the clear ability to comfortably see off these rivals. He can be expected to make all for Jerry McGrath, with the unexposed Mr Grumpy, Aldeburgh (also entered on Wednesday), and Golden Town playing for places.
