Won a couple of races in November and neither has worked out particularly well. Appears vulnerable at the weights although a stable record of 15-58, for a 20 point profit, at the venue is a clear positive.
Should be seen to better effect here following last month's second at Market Rasen. May have needed the run and the trip may have been too short. Champion jockey retains the mount and she is dropped to a mark 6lb higher than when edging a close finish in September.
Showed some ability in bumpers and was made favourite for her hurdling debut when she lost her rider at the last (staying on at the time). Has faced some stiff tasks since but jumped poorly last time and never featured.
Lightly raced and potentially better than we have seen so far. Stable do well at the April fixtures here and she could show significant improvement for the drier ground.
Last of six under similar conditions last time. Tried in cheekpieces that day which are now removed. Dropped significantly in grade here and promises to be more effective.
Progressing nicely and duly landed a Navan maiden hurdle last time. Stayed on well to snatch victory close home and worth a try at this trip. Fairly treated judged on that effort. Rider is 3-13 for the yard, with a further eight placed, when partnering their hurdlers.
Sole win came over 3m here in September and the runner-up went on to complete a hat-trick thereafter. This will be harder following a seven month break and a 10lb rise in the weights.
Loves it here having won four of her nine starts. Last good effort came here in September off a 10lb higher mark. That was also the last time she wore today's headgear configuration.
Winner of a weak race last time and a 6lb rise in the weights has probably taken care of her for now.
Forecasts
Gold Chain (7/2), Our Valentina (7/2), Vic's Last Stand (9/2), Catchthemoonlight (13/2), Miss Maiden Over (7/1), Lagavara (7/1), Indy Island (22/1), This Thyne Jude (25/1), Paper Roses (33/1)
Few of these appeal as being well handicapped and it may pay to focus on those with room to improve on recent efforts. Our Valentina won a minor race at Navan in the style of a mare who would appreciate this stiffer test of stamina. If as effective on this quicker ground she must go close for a respected trainer/rider combination. VICS LAST STAND shaped really well at Market Rasen last time after a four month break over a trip that was undeniably short of her best. The champion jockey retains the mount and she can go one better. Gold Chain is one never to dismiss around here and she has a bright chance of reaching a place at generous odds from this mark.
- Vic's Last Stand
- Our Valentina
- Gold Chain
