Has won three since October and over 2m5½f both at Wincanton and here last time on good to firm. Tailed off at Chepstow when tried over this trip amid all that, but as a point-to-point winner he is clearly worth another try. Cheekpieces swapped for blinkers and amateur helps to negate penalties.
Won a heavy ground bumper at Taunton last year and scored at the second attempt over hurdles at Kempton (2m5f, good to soft) in February. Handicapper asked too much of him on his debut in that sphere last time and he could find greater joy today back in novices' company.
Sole win was in a Fontwell bumper in November and came closest to winning in five hurdles runs when third (beaten 2½L) in a Doncaster handicap in March (3m½f, soft). Handles a sound surface well enough and looks to have been found a decent chance to get off the mark over obstacles.

Forecasts
Markov (8/13), Captain Buck's (7/4), Lord Bryan (6/1), Rouge Devils (10/1)
MARKOV can gain due reward for some consistent efforts in handicaps by breaking his duck now back in a novices' contest, where the weights look to be in his favour. Captain Buck's looks to be the pick of the Nicholls-trained pair the way that this race is framed, while you couldn't rule out either Rouge Devils or Lord Bryan, though they looks the less likely pair on paper.
- Markov
- Captain Buck's
- Rouge Devils
