Won a bumper here last season (heavy). Hurdles form has been a bit patchy so far and he has been well beaten on his last three starts, all over further. On a workable mark for handicap debut here and drop in trip probably a positive, so check the market for clues.
Made the frame three times over hurdles when with Dan Skelton in 2015. Been busy on the All Weather with Richard Hughes in the winter and now joins a new jumps yard on a mark 9lb lower than when making frame previously. Cheek pieces on for the first-time and may make an impact.
4lb higher than when winning at Plumpton last month, but was never travelling when beaten 38L from 1lb higher than today at Chepstow last time. Has twice won from higher marks than this in the past, so still entitled to claims here if he can put his last start behind him.
Latest win came from 12lb higher in a chase in September and went well in defeats from higher than that since then on a couple of occasions. Outpaced over this shorter trip when back over hurdles last time but not long since he ran well over 2m over fences. Attractively weighted if he can transfer chase form back to hurdles.
Seeking a hat-trick after wins at Uttoxeter and Fakenham already this month. Front pair were 12L clear in the latter event, so still looks capable of adding a third success before the assessor nabs him, given that he has just a 7lb penalty to shoulder here.
Initial hurdles mark looked too taxing for him, but a drop in the weights enabled him to get more competitive at Taunton last time. On the same mark today and if cheek pieces work for a second time then he should build on that.
Won here over C&D from 10lb lower in February (good to soft) and ran well from 4lb on his next start. Well beaten over a bit further last time, but that was probably more about the class than the trip. Same again here today and likely to find one or two too good.
Last win was a couple of year ago at Worcester (2m, good to firm) from 7lb higher, though not shown that he retains that ability since and recent efforts suggests that his powers are on the wane.
Forecasts
Glimpse Of Gold (11/8), Steel Express (3/1), Hollywood Ken (5/1), Thundering Home (12/1), Ladies Dancing (12/1), Baccalaureate (16/1), Theatre Mill (16/1), Dynamo (25/1)
Steel Express is worth a check in the market on his handicap intro, while Dynamo is on a handy mark and is another one to zone in on in the betting. Thundering Home carries risks after last time, but if you can forgive him that he should go well but preference is for GLIMPSE OF GOLD, who is in cracking form and looks capable of completing a hat-trick under his penalty.
- Glimpse Of Gold
- Dynamo
- Thundering Home
