Looked backward on his debut at Newbury last year and didn't show much, but likely to do better this term and market the best guide as to his chance. Yard may have stronger claims with Hakeem.

Finished midfield on only start to date at Lingfield last June and although he will definitely do better this year (related to Group winners) may need this. One to monitor closely today with a view to the future.

Hasn't shown anything in either of his two starts to date to suggest he will be troubling the principals today.

Caught the eye on both starts last year as one that would do better in time, but this looks a hot little contest and he may find it all a bit too much. Will probably go handicapping after this.

Has shown little in two starts and with some well-bred newcomers up against him here, can't be seriously considered as a likely winner.

First foal, dam was a winner over 1m and trip should suit on debut. Yard, going well at the moment, have a superb 42% strike rate with their 3-y-o's here and it's that that makes him of great interest here. One of the more likely ones.

Well bred and related to plenty of winners from 6f-1m2f, and this trip should be fine for his introduction. Yard have an excellent 36% strike rate with their 3-y-o's at Yarmouth and he has to be high on the shortlist for this.
Bought for £90,000 last year, and is a half-brother to the useful French sprinter Gold Vibe. Yard going well and have a 22% strike rate with their 3-y-o's here, so plenty of plus points and one of the more likely contenders today.

Price increased considerably at Arqana Breeze-Up Sales last May (cost £300,000) but of some concern that he's hooded for his debut today. Half-brother to the useful sprinter Golden Steps and although in good hands, may be best watched today.

Half-brother to the very useful stayer Big Orange that cost £160,000 at the Tattersalls sales last year. Bred to be useful and yard have made a good start to the season. One to consider, although will clearly want further in time.

Horse silk

Related to a couple of winners but will probably need further than this in the future, and with the yard a bit quiet at present, best watched unless the market suggests otherwise.

150/1
Not completely disgraced on the latter of her two starts when finishing midfield in a Newmarket maiden, and related to plenty of winners, but likely to need this and will be of more interest in handicaps.

Horse silk
200/1
Didn't show enough in either of her two starts last year to make her of interest here, and needs the first time hood to have a big effect. Qualifies for handicaps after today, and may be of more interest then.

Horse silk
150/1
Pedigree suggests she will want further than this, and first time hood and tongue-tie on debut both send out warning signals. Best watched.

Horse silk
200/1
Shown nothing in two runs to date and will be qualified for handicaps after this run. No realistic chance.

Forecasts

Marine One (11/4), Alwahsh (4/1), Mooltazem (9/2), Buxted Dream (8/1), Stormy Blues (9/1), Hakeem (12/1), Dutch Quality (12/1), Soldier Blue (14/1), Zain Star (20/1), Free Forum (100/1), Lady Freyja (150/1), Lookintomyeyes (150/1), Chunkyfunkymonkey (200/1), Let's Sway (200/1), Piaffe (200/1)

Verdict

As ever in these maidens, the market will tell us what is expected but preference at this stage is for MARINE ONE, who is bred for this sort of trip and should be well forward. Soldier Blue looks like the Godolphin first string but their other runner, Stormy Blues, makes just as much, if not more appeal. Hakeem represents a yard that do well here and looks a danger. Zain Star should be winning races this season too.
  1. Marine One
  2. Stormy Blues
  3. Hakeem
