Winner off a 2lb lower mark over 3m at Cheltenham (good) in October. Well held in highly competitive events at Cheltenham and Aintree since and likely to fair better in this.
Finished fourth (Golden Doyen behind) on his penultimate outing at Cheltenham over 3m last month. Beaten 23L into eighth in a similar at Aintree earlier this month and interesting having won off a 1lb lower mark 11 months ago.
Very easy winner of a 2m5f handicap on soft ground here last month. Still going well and in front when falling two out over 2m7f at Haydock (heavy) last time out and interesting to see if he can repeat those efforts on the predicted better ground here (all three wins have come with plenty of cut in the ground).
Winner of two of his last four outings including when the 25L winner of a novice hurdle over an extended 2m3f at Doncaster (soft) last month. Showed he handles better ground when second of four at Wincanton earlier this and interesting upped in trip.
Successful over 3m on soft ground at Taunton in February. Well held in a first time visor (left off here) over 3m2f (soft) last month. Races off a mark 5lb higher than for that Taunton success.
Point-to-point winner in 2016 and a winner of a maiden hurdle on good ground at Southwell over 3m in August. Runner-up on good-to-firm over 2m4f at Wincanton in October but well held over an extended 3m1f next time out and a bit to prove following nearly six months off the track.
Winner of a match race over fences at Exeter in October 2015. Lightly raced since and well held on debut for this yard at Exeter in December. Probably best watched here.
Forecasts
Thumb Stone Blues (9/4), Robin Of Locksley (11/4), The Tourard Man (4/1), Another Frontier (15/2), Golden Doyen (8/1), Doitforjoe (14/1), Dragon's Den (25/1)
THUMB STONE BLUES has been in good form in novice hurdle events this season including when winning at Doncaster in March. The selection steps up in trip here and can take this on ground that he should appreciate for a yard with a 31% strike-rate currently. Robin Of Locksley has been in good form this season and was still going well when coming down two from home last time out and can claim second ahead of The Tourard Man and Golden Doyen who both contested competitive handicaps at Cheltenham and Aintree on their two previous outings.
- Thumb Stone Blues
- Robin Of Locksley
- Golden Doyen
