Has largely been competitive over fences, though you have to go back to 2015 for his only win in this sphere. Ran well enough when last seen in November and is 1lb lower, though has previously looked as though this trip is beyond his reserves of stamina.

1lb higher today than when scoring over 2m5f (soft) at Carlisle in December. Likes it there, having won a month earlier, but has also got winning course form here to his name over hurdles. Has claims in terms of handicap mark, though also has stamina doubts.

0-5 over fences and spent 17 months on the sidelines until brought back at Wincanton (pulled up) last month. Tried to make all that day and didn't do a bad job for long enough. Should be straighter today and from 4lb lower he could go very well.

3/1
8lb lower here than when scoring over fences for Venetia Williams in 2014, but has not added to that. Rated 130 at his best and this trainer got him going back in the right direction last time. Not ruled out and pedigree suggests that he might get this far.

Forecasts

Shimla Dawn (5/2), Palm Grey (11/4), Frampton (11/4), The Clock Leary (3/1)

Verdict

Shimla Dawn and Palm Grey both have stamina doubts if this is truly run, with the latter preferred of that pair as most likely to get home. The Clock Leary showed signs of a revival last time and he may well also stay, so he has claims, though preference is for FRAMPTON, who could be one to catch on his second start after a lengthy absence, having shown up well before needing a blow on his reappearance run.
  1. Frampton
  2. The Clock Leary
  3. Palm Grey
