Ground looks a legitimate excuse for a poor show last time. Took advantage of a long odds-on shot hitting the front too soon when scoring at Wetherby. Had some decent yardsticks behind him that day and is potentially better than official ratings suggest.

Winner of a couple of races at Leicester and Bangor and BHA rating of 127 looks about right. Last run was subject of a steward's report which stated connections could offer no explanation and the vet reported no abnormalities. That raises some doubts but it is probable we will see a different horse on this faster ground. Stable have a modest 5-49 record here.
Moderate point-to-pointer has shown little in two runs over hurdles. Makes debut for new yard following a six month absence. Needs to have improved considerably in the interim.

Had little chance at the weights with a runaway winner at Sedgefield on Wednesday. Has a bit to find with the top pair based on official ratings and yet to prove she wants ground as quick as this. Cheekpieces are now tried.
Well beaten in two bumpers and needs to step up considerably for her hurdling debut. Yard have been going well lately but it would be a surprise if she proved good enough.

Verdict

EATON HILL beat an idling Mount Mews at Wetherby but still had a useful sort back in fourth who won next time. He ran into two very nice horses next time before running poorly on soft ground . This looks a lot easier than those Wetherby races and his main rivals have questions to answer. Thisonetime was readily outpointed at Sedgefield in midweek in a race where she had little chance at the weights. She still looks a few pounds short but cheekpieces now go on. Her best form has been on heavy and it remains to be seen if she can be as effective on this surface. Gray Day was well beaten on bad ground at Sedgefield last time. A previous win at Bangor gives him obvious claims if in the same shape here. His yard are now in better form following a Bangor double on Saturday.
