Bit to prove after finishing last in both starts for his current yard but the drop to 6f may help him today. May need to drop a few pounds in the weights before he can be considered as being on a truly competitive mark though.

Won in this grade at Leicester at the height of last summer but found life tough after reassessment. May also need a little more cut in the ground to be seen at his best.

Won a similar race over C&D for Kevin Ryan last April but has also thrived since joining his current yard. Was well held off this mark last time out though. And now looks to be in the grip of the official assessor.

Just 1lb higher than for his win at Epsom last season, so comes into the reckoning on the pick of his form. Can be hard to predict though and, given the way he started last season, he may be best watched until he has a couple of runs under his belt.

Entitled to have needed the run when well beaten on her reappearance on the AW at Southwell at the start of this month, so can be forgiven a lacklustre effort. However, she is still 7lb higher than her last winning mark and is another that needs a tad more assistance from the handicapper.

A very infrequent winner these days and showed very little for encouragement on his reappearance at Redcar last week. That was his debut for his current yard - an effort which created the impression that his current connections have some work on their hands in their efforts to revive his fortunes. Has won from an 11lb higher mark in the past, so well treated for this and is also likely to be placed to good effect as the season progresses if he reacts positively to his new surroundings.

Relished the test of stamina when rattling up the hill to win at Pontefract last July and has only been seen twice since. Only 2lb higher, the four-year-old still has a little scope for improvement and may well make further progress now he steps up to 6f with another year on his back. One to bear in mind.

On a long losing run and is 15lb below his last winning mark as a result. Recent evidence on the AW suggests he has lost a little interest in the game and it's very difficult to lay out a serious case in his favour given his poor efforts since he returned to the action.

Posted better form after dropped back to 6f on the AW; culminating with a relatively comfortable victory at Newcastle last month. Now just 3lb higher, so has claims at the weights, but needs to post a much improved effort than any of his previous performances on turf.

Rounded off last season in good style with a win at Redcar and has decent claims from just a 5lb higher mark. Needs to prove he can act without the assistance of plenty of give underfoot but is still leniently treated in comparison to his early outings in handicap company. Place claims at least in a modest heat.

Forecasts

Ancient Astronaut (9/4), Epeius (6/1), Top of The Bank (6/1), Questo (8/1), More Beau (8/1), Bop It (17/2), Wilde Extravagance (9/1), Specialv (11/1), Willbeme (12/1), Foresight (12/1), First Rate (16/1), Etienne Gerard (33/1)

Verdict

It's possible that WILDE EXTRAVAGANCE has strengthened up sufficiently to truly appreciate tacking a sixth furlong in his races and the lightly raced four-year-old gets the nomination to land division two of this pretty weak handicap. Questo shouldn't be underestimated from the foot of the weights, while More Beau doesn't have too much to find to get competitive on his first start for his new yard. Epeius is capable at this level but may be better on an AW surface, so the feasibly very well handicapped Bop It makes more appeal for a speculative punt to make the frame on this occasion.
  1. Wilde Extravagance
  2. Questo
  3. More Beau
