Poor effort at Uttoxeter when last seen (tailed off) but soft ground there no use to him, and better judged on his good ground form of last year and a decent second to the useful Apterix at Doncaster in March. Likely ground ideal here and every chance back in calmer waters today.

Looked like making up into a classy hurdler at one point, but it never quite happened for him. Back to form with a solid win at Market Rasen last time, although not always convincing with his jumping. That won't come under pressure in this small field and every chance of following up.

Not seen much on a racecourse these days, and this will only be his fourth start in two years. Not totally disgraced last time out and gave the impression there might be something to be gained with him, and returns to a course he goes well at. Likely better ground will suit too, and not discounted.

First start over fences for this 6-y-o, and has always appeared the type to do better once going over the bigger obstacles. This is a hot little heat to make your chasing debut, however, and he'll need to be foot perfect to get involved. Yard going well, but still best watched today.

Forecasts

Box Office (11/8), Clondaw Draft (15/8), Mahlers Star (4/1), Allbarnone (8/1)

Verdict

CLONDAW DRAFT has a bit more to prove than his main rivals but it's interesting that connections are persevering with him, and he dropped a hint that all may not be lost last time out. He's worth taking a chance on here, as neither of his main rivals hold rock-solid claims. Allbarnone has his ground today and should run his race and as long as Box Office puts in a clear round, he can play his part in a tricky little event too.
  1. Clondaw Draft
  2. Box Office
  3. Allbarnone
