Far from consistent but took advantage of a reduced mark to land a ladies race at Catterick in February. Poor in both starts since and hard to know which side of his character will be exhibited today. On the plus side he won a bumper here for Philip Hide,
Well enough handicapped if returning to somewhere approaching his 2013 levels. Entitled to have needed both runs this season which have suggested he is some way off. Stable are without a winner for two years.
Had been attracting support over hurdles and fences before coasting home at Exeter last time over 2m7f. A shorter trip around here is a vastly different test but he exhibited a high cruising speed. Has a big chance in a poor race if matching that effort. Due to race off a 3lb higher mark in future races.
Continues to slip down the weights having been a winner off an 18lb higher mark at Plumpton two years ago. Has not got close to that standard since but trip and ground are fine.
Landed a Worcester seller during the summer, his sole victory in 36 starts. Duly beaten next time and up again in the weights here. Yard have enjoyed a good couple of months but he remains difficult to fancy.
Subject of a gamble in a first time hood on handicap debut. Got done for a turn of foot when the winner shot clear three out that day but he was running on well at the finish. The handicapper has not been harsh on him and compensation awaits before too long.
Plantagenet and TACTICAL MANOEUVRE have both been the subject of good market support in recent races. The former almost took advantage of his low mark at Kempton last time where the eventual winner was the beneficiary of an opportunistic ride. The hood is not guaranteed to have the same effect again and on this occasion he faces a rival who is due to go up a further 3lb in future handicaps. TACTICAL MANOEUVRE earned that much higher rating having scored with some authority at Exeter last time. Having only had 11 runs in two years there is room for more to come.
