Winner of four races over middle distances in France and finally broke his duck when sent off at prohibitive odds in a bad race last time. Had previously shown a tendency to hang under pressure and has previously burst blood vessels. Hood goes on and his attitude will be seriously tested here. Yard are 40-118 with their hurdlers here over the past five seasons.

Had two subsequent winners behind when scoring at Ludlow in February. Well suited to a sound surface and yard are 21-78 with their runners here. Clear top rated on official ratings.

Scored at Worcester last June when he applied the brakes in the closing stages. That form suggests his current BHA rating overestimates him and that may be why connections are yet to run him in a handicap. Dropped out tamely on his return last Saturday but will be better for the run.

Forecasts

Ridgeway Flyer (4/6), Garo De Juilley (7/4), Sand Blast (17/2)

Verdict

Three top yards with good records around here send previous winners for this. Sand Blast looks easy to dismiss on form. His Worcester victory has been devalued by the second and third since and he probably has lot more to find with RIDGEWAY FLYER than the official rating suggests. Harry Fry's charge beat two horses now rated 125 and 129 by 7L and 12L respectively at Ludlow. That suggests he will take all the beating on a track and surface that should suit. Paul Nicholls has such a good record here that Garo De Juilley looks a real danger. The French import has had his problems but had a confidence boosting win over C&D last time. A tendency to hang under pressure, and a recent episode where he burst blood vessels, makes him a less appealing proposition.
  1. Ridgeway Flyer
  2. Garo De Juilley
  3. Sand Blast
