Smart chaser who has won two of her last three starts in that sphere the latest at Wetherby in October off a 2lb lower mark. Switched back to hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival after a break and ran a fine race to fourth to Apple's Jade in a Grade 1 Mares' Hurdle. Has to give 10lb plus away all round here but hard to leave out of the equation.

Winner of three mares' novice hurdle last season one a Listed event at Doncaster and bounced back to form over hurdles at the Festival last time out. Had been chasing in the interim (showed some useful form) but has work to do to close the gap on Indian Stream on the Cheltenham form.

Midnight Tour37
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: D N Russell| T: A King| OR:  135
9/4
One of two runners in the race for this stable who has already won twice this season and ran with credit at the Festival to finish sixth after some problems in-running. A repeat if that run off a 2lb higher mark would see her go close here.

Last two runs have been disappointing although she was highly tried last time out at Cheltenham. In better form in the first half of the season but does have to show that form here to have a chance after those two poor runs.

Just the one win to her name over hurdles after being placed in bumpers although she would have added a second win but for falling at Newbury in January (was full of running at the time). Made her handicap debut last time out off this mark when running a fair race at Newbury (behind Snow Leopardess) although she did promise a little more than she delivered. Still worth keeping onside and will be of interest over fences in the future.

20/1
Winner on her hurdles debut at Huntingdon against her own sex looking suited by the longer trip than she had run over in bumpers. Disappointed after that but bounced back at Southwell last time out. Already looks quite useful over hurdles and cheekpieces go on for her handicap debut off a mark of 125.

Positive tactics have seen her to the best effect with a couple of handicap wins at Wincanton off much lower marks. Has run well enough since off much increased marks in tougher company and this is more realistic although she may face pace pressure.

Has shown improved form this year winning at Huntingdon and Ludlow off marks of 102 and 113. Quicker conditions and another hike in the weights looked to find her out at Newbury in a tougher handicap last time out and has work to do with several of these and the ground may well be quicker than she likes.

Tara Mist55
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-1| J: Andrew Tinkler| T: H D Daly| OR:  122
20/1
Stable won this race last year and try again here with one who bounced back well from a break benefitting from a drop in the weights when winning at Ludlow in January. Back up in the weights last time out saw her struggle and will do well to repeat the yard's win in this last year.

A beaten favourite last time out her overall form looks a little below what is required here having been running in much less competitive races.

Carnspindle20
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-0| J: Thomas Greatrex(7)| T: W Greatrex| OR:  117
15/2
Bumper winner who has been showing some progressive form over hurdles winning on her handicap debut last time out appreciating the longer trip. Finds plenty for pressure and displays a good attitude but does have to handle the rise in class here from 4lb out of the handicap but hard to write off.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: H Cobden| T: F Brennan| OR:  114

In much better form last year when winning four times and has run creditably this season without winning. Has plenty on her plate here though from 7lb out of the handicap and would be a surprise winner.

Forecasts

Midnight Tour (9/4), Snow Leopardess (10/3), Indian Stream (9/2), Theatre Territory (11/2), Carnspindle (15/2), The Organist (8/1), On Demand (10/1), Sparkling River (14/1), Tara Mist (20/1), Mariah's Legend (20/1), Miss Crick (25/1), Midnight Silver (33/1), Miss Tongabezi (33/1), Hope's Wishes (66/1)

Verdict

Another running of this race that has drawn a good field of mares and should produce a competitive contest. Snow Leopardess sets a good standard after her Newbury especially as that form has been franked since and she should have the beating again of those that finished behind her in that race. Indian Stream and MIDNIGHT TOUR are closely matched on their Festival running and the latter is weighted to come out on top here. Of the lower weights Carnspindle along with Mariah’s Legend who should be suited by this test are of interest.
  1. Midnight Tour
  2. Carnspindle
  3. Snow Leopardess
