Very disapppointing since landing a Ffos Las novice hurdle back in June of last year. Did go close in a fast ground bumper at Wincanton last term so quick ground and first time cheekpieces might help bring about some improvement.

Never raced on any surface faster than 'good' so conditions are something of an unknown. Won Exeter handicap hurdle on soft ground in November and drops back in trip here after struggling to get home over further of late.

Yard in cracking form over Easter holidays and showed improved form when scoring easily at Stratford last week. Carries 7lb penalty but might take some stopping as long as that effort hasn't left its mark.

Quick ground a poser and ran shockers on his last two most starts just over a year ago. Absence suggests training issues and while this previous C&D winner would have a shout on the his best form the market could be the best guide to his chance.

Nearly two years since last success and has dropped in the weights as a result. Does handle underfoot conditions though and with rider's 5lb claim is not completely without a chance.

Ashoka (2/5), West Torr (13/2), Sir Dylan (7/1), Third Act (8/1), Benbecula (9/1), While You Wait (25/1)

Verdict

ASHOKA won with plenty to spare last week and has a clear chance of following up under his penalty. The yard is in sparkling form and he should make them all go. The application of cheekpiecs on West Torr may help the cause and the top weight has bits and pieces of from that give him a sporting chance if back on song, while both Sir Dylan and Benbecula have outside chances if running up to their best on a surface that holds no terrors for them.
