4lb lower than his last success, although that was 12 starts and 19 months ago, though handicapper giving him a chance nonetheless. Been running well enough in defeat, but this drop in class should help and yard in good form so very interesting.
Not won since his Bangor debut in a bumper (soft), but chasing has always looked to be his game. Was making a decent debut at Huntingdon (good) when falling two out and from same mark from an in-form yard he is entitled to plenty of respect.
Over three years since his last win and his recent graph looks interesting, starting in December over two miles after a long absence, then gradually stepped up to 3m, before stepping back down to today's distance. Has twice made the frame over longer during that time but looking in need of a drop in the weights.
3lb higher than when scoring at Huntingdon in October (2m½f, good) , though was beaten from this mark when last seen a month later. Both career wins have been at the Cambridgeshire track and he has not yet performed at his best here. Market check probably best advised after a break.
All three career wins have come on good ground from 2m2f-2m4f, and they have been on his last three starts. Therefore, enters this in great form, though up 11lb for latest 10L success and handicapper closing in. 7lb claimer up to try to negate that.

Forecasts
Compadre (9/4), Bally Lagan (3/1), Oliver's Gold (7/2), Chestnut Ben (9/2), Volt Face (5/1), Jackthejourneyman (5/1)
A competitive contest looks on the cards despite the small field and Bally Lagan should make a bold bid to complete a four-timer, while Chestnut Ben can again go well and Compadre is far from beyond improvement. Even so, a drop in class can help OLIVER'S GOLD come good again and he is the selection.
