Back on the same mark from which he won at Catterick (2m3½f, good to soft) in January after being well beaten in both subsequent starts. Had thrown in a couple of poor runs before that success, so they should not be a sticking point for punters. Won a point-to-point on good and likely to be ridden to make best use of his stamina.
Shaped nicely enough in a Wetherby novices' hurdle in October, but did not quite have the pace for that or his next run at Huntingdon, both over the minimum trip. Better still when stepped up in trip last time on good to firm at Taunton for his handicap debut and if able to reproduce that he would go close today.
Made the frame in an Irish point-to-point before joining current connections for £11,000. Made a pleasing debut here over a trip that was too short last month and will be better both for the experience and also the extra 2f today. Improvement anticipated.

Won a bumper and a maiden hurdle under today's pilot last year and has run to similar levels of form despite being beaten (most recently as favourite) on his last two starts under Noel Fehily. Conditions look ideal and slight drop in trip not a major concern. Should be a serious player.

Point-to-point winner in Ireland at the fourth attempt and bought for £18,000 last summer. First start for current yard/under rules today and market check advised, although trip may not yet bring out the best in him.

Forecasts

Pickamix (8/11), Alexander The Grey (11/4), Fadas (3/1), Cracking Find (9/2), West To Crossgales (20/1), Iskabeg Lane (33/1)

Verdict

An interesting little race where Pickamix will rightly be popular with Harry Bannister back on board, while Fadas has perhaps her easiest task in Britain so far and the Sue Smith-trained pair are of interest for different reasons. Nonetheless, the suggestion is ALEXANDER THE GREY, who appeared to relish a step up beyond two miles and decent ground last time and that can prove to be a nice marker towards success today.
  1. Alexander The Grey
  2. Pickamix
  3. Fadas
