20/1
Went up 27lb in the rating last year but is back on a winning mark after a handful of below par efforts, so has claims on the pick of his from. However, he has a little to prove just now and faces a tough assignment from the head of the weights.

Caprice D'anglaisp31
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mr J S Knox(7)| T: S Thomas| OR:  105
12/1
Won a seller over C&D last time out and is respected on that level. His rider's 7lb claim goes some way to off-setting today's 12lb higher mark but he also faces a tough test on his first start for his new yard.
3
Horse silk
Deise Diamond165
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Stan Sheppard(3)| T: N B King| OR:  105

Made good progress to win a bumper at Fontwell last summer but his form has taken a turn since switching to hurdling and he now has something to prove.
4
Horse silk
Magical Thomast127
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-10| J: Harry Reed(7)| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  103
16/1
Yet to win over hurdles and has been unconvincing in all of his starts this term. The rider's 7lb claim helps but others hold much stronger claims on recent form.
5

Edward Elgarp16
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-9| J: Andrew Tinkler| T: Mrs Caroline Bailey| OR:  102
9/2
Goes well at this track and held his form well since he won a seller over C&D in February. Now 7lb higher and will find this tougher than his recent assignments, so needs to be a the top of his game to get involved at the business end.
6

Age: 4|  Weight: 11-5| J: Nick Scholfield| T: A M Hales| OR:  103

Decent form on the Flat in France but has yet to translate that into any tangible return since arriving in the UK and switching codes. Yard in good form, though, and does at least have scope for improvement.

The Otmoor Poet73
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-4| J: G Sheehan| T: A M Hales| OR:  102
14/1
Kept better company than this since leaving Alan King and may appreciate this ease in grade. The form of his penultimate start is beginning to take shape and, given that he makes just his fourth start over timber, he can make this a good test for the rest if he continues to progress.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Mr James King(5)| T: D Thompson| OR:  97
12/1
Currently 5lb lower than his last winning mark and has been given a chance by the handicapper. Will like the predicted going but any deterioration in the underfoot conditions would count against him.

Gin And Tonicp131
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-4| J: Aidan Coleman| T: M Wigham| OR:  97
9/2
Won this corresponding race from a 4lb higher mark last year, so has claims at the weights. Drops in grade today but recent form has been a little hit or miss, so needs to show a more determined attitude. The first-time cheekpieces may help.
10
Horse silk
Glimpse Of Goldt16
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: Alan Johns(3)| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  92
2/1
Best with a fair deal of give in the ground but is in good heart just now and was a convincing winner last time out. A 3lb higher mark looks reasonable but he does face a stiffer test of his jumping this time around.

Horse silk
Musical Moonp23
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Max Kendrick(7)| T: S Flook| OR:  78
50/1
Out of the weights and out of form; very difficult to suggest he will rid himself of his maiden tag on these terms given his current profile.

Forecasts

Glimpse Of Gold (2/1), Edward Elgar (9/2), Gin And Tonic (9/2), Deise Diamond (6/1), Caprice D'anglais (12/1), Alyasan (12/1), The Otmoor Poet (14/1), Magical Thomas (16/1), Bulletproof (20/1), Methag (33/1), Musical Moon (50/1)

Verdict

This represents a slight ease in grade for THE OTMOOR POET and he is fancied to take advantage of the opportunity presented to him. Glimpse Of Gold is fairly treated and will be a threat if he acts on the ground, while Gin And Tonic, who won this race last year, is also on a handy mark and has place claims at least. Edward Elgar is another that likes this particular course and is worth bearing in mind if the market shines a positive light on his claims.
  1. The Otmoor Poet
  2. Glimpse Of Gold
  3. Edward Elgar
