Modest point-to-pointer takes his chance for the first time under rules and needs to show improved form to get into the reckoning.
Promising 6yo who has won his last two point-to-points in good style. This is tougher but he is clearly going the right way and looks one for the short list.
Pulled up in five succesisve point-to-points before finally managing to complete in a distant fifth last month. Very hard to enthuse over in current form.
Won three point-to-points but was pulled up once and was well beaten on his only other attempt in hunter chases. Others make far more appeal.
Has fallen in two of his last three point-to-points, on both occasions when in the process of running respectably. Completed in second place last time and still open to improvement, but needs to pick his hooves up.
Represents good stable and has shaped well on all three starts to date, including when staying on into second place in Downpatrick hunter chase last time. Major contender on that effort.
15 race maiden hurdler under rules (although did go close a couple of times). Got off the mark in maiden point-to-point in January but looked very one paced when third last time out in small event. Place prospetcs at best.
Landed maiden point-to-point at Durrow last time having generally struggled prior to that. Hard to totally rule out but balance of form leaves him with plenty to find.
Dam from family of smart chaser Travado and has won 3-8 starts in point to points. Disappointing of late though and this step up in class not sure to suit at this stage.
Won three point-to-points over the years but struggled when tried under rules in the past. Had to make case for it being different this time aorund.
Won Tinahely maiden point-to-point in January and not disgraced behind decent Foxrock when tried under rules after that. Failed to shine last time out, but has better chance than many in a modest contest.

Forecasts

Jammin Masters (6/4), Quarry Rua (7/2), Black Scorpion (9/2), Strideout Euro (10/1), Cloneen Choice (10/1), Uisce Ur (12/1), Patsy Oriel (14/1), Glacial Shadow (16/1), Asian Fitz (16/1), Kestrel (20/1), Can U See Me Now (50/1)

Verdict

JAMMIN MASTERS has plenty going for him in a race where there are big question marks over most of his rivals. He has shown a fair level of form so far and is likely to be still improving at this stage of his career. Black Scorpion may give the selection most to do and comes into this race in fine form between the flags, while Uisce Ur is not ruled out despite a below par run last time. Glacial Shadow may prove best of the rest.
  1. Jammin Masters
  2. Black Scorpion
  3. Uisce Ur
