Wore first time blinkers when successful on good ground over 2m4f at Musselburgh in early January and can be forgiven a pulled up effort at Cheltenham when contesting a Grade 3 contest last month. Races off a mark 6lb higher than for that Musselburgh success and drops in trip here.

2/1
Winner of his first two outings for this stable in small field contests in late 2015. Placed on two of his last three outings including when 11L third of four on soft ground at Ludlow last month. Races off a 2lb lower mark here and interesting in first time cheekpieces.

useful horse on his day but out of form since beaten 2L over an extended 2m (good-to-soft) at Newton Abbot 13 months ago. Handicap mark is falling as a result and today's amateur jockey has a 43% strike-rate for this stable (3/7).

Winner of ten of his 64 career outings including at Haydock in a 2m3f handicap chase on good ground in May last year. Well beaten twice since finishing runner-up at Fontwell in September and racing off a mark 3lb higher than for that Haydock success today.

Recorded a double at Perth and Ludlow last spring but well beaten in three subsequent starts. Most recent of those came at Worcester in July and he returns from nearly nine months off the track in this racing from 1lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Red Spinner (2/1), Ink Master (9/4), Cold March (11/4), Ulck Du Lin (8/1), Purple 'n Gold (12/1)

Verdict

INK MASTER has won fresh in the past and can take this small field handicap chase. The selection races from 1lb out of the handicap in this contest but was in good form this time last year and when successful twice over this distance. Red Spinner has run some decent races so far this season most recently when third of four at Ludlow last month and he shouldn't be inconvenienced by this return to the predicted better ground while Ulck Du Lin can claim third under a decent amateur rider.
  1. Ink Master
  2. Red Spinner
  3. Ulck Du Lin
