Steady progress with each start so far, but probably didn't need to improve much to open his account in a seven-runner event at Plumpton (good) - the quickest ground he has encountered so far. Looks to have every chance of following up.

Had already shown promise in bumpers prior to winning over hurdles at the second attempt at Worcester (2m4f, good) last June. Placed in three subsequent novice hurdle starts and, though absent since August, he is respected in this company.

Showed nothing in a Bangor bumper on heavy ground a year ago and his only public outing since then came in a point-to-point in February when he unseated his rider. Best watched as he makes a hurdles debut.

Hard to know what he has achieved in winning races in his native Czech Republic and he makes a British debut today for a new yard following a spell in Sweden. Market obviously the best guide.

Listed winner in Ireland on the Flat as a juvenile but has clearly had problems. Pulled up on his hurdles debut and only glimmers of improvement at Wetherby next time. Probably has more to offer but opposable in the short-term.

Useful form in bumpers but has been less than impressive since switched to hurdles, not really seeing out the trip on either start so far. Still too early to be writing her off though and wouldn't need to improve much to get competitive here.
Fair performer on the Flat for Michael Dodds, having won a staying handicap off a mark of 63 at Redcar last summer. Has changed stables since and is in decent hands as he embarks on a hurdling career. Watch market.

Bumper form was poor for Philip Hobbs and the switch to hurdles for a different yard hasn't brought about any better form. Pulled-up on her hurdles debut at Hereford before toiling badly and tailing off at Ludlow. Best watched.

Rated 63 and sliding on the Flat, where he is 0-7 and he has struggled to land any sort of blow in three starts over hurdles so far, including when beaten 48L on this course last month. Little to excite.

Forecasts

Little Chunk (5/6), Sand Blast (9/4), Dusky Raider (8/1), Calling Des Blins (10/1), Parish Boy (16/1), St Andrews (33/1), Luca Brazi (33/1), Moderator (50/1), Kahaleesi (50/1)

Verdict

A trappy affair and there seems no obvious reason to desert the improving LITTLE CHUNK after he decisively opened his account under this rider in similar conditions at Plumpton recently. Positive market vibes for Sand Blast on his return from a lengthy absence or the hurdling debutant Dusky Raider would be interesting, however.
  1. Little Chunk
  2. Sand Blast
  3. Dusky Raider
