Verdict

Basford Ben must be greatly respected in his attempt to win this race for the third year running. He has been allowed a nice break beforehand but it remains a worry that he was out of form when last seen. Smuggler's Stash ought to be suited once again with the emphasis firmly placed on stamina, while Lakefield Rebel would have a chance if repeating his run behind SETTLEDOUTOFCOURT at Hexham last month. The winner made all the running that day and might take some reeling in again if enjoying the run of the race in front here. Mo Rouge has been out of sorts lately but did go close at this track a year ago could be sparked into life with the return.
