Wolf Sword24
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-4| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  120
3/1
Consistent performer but finds winning a bit of a challenge. He's settled for second on all three starts this year, including last month at Haydock over a similar trip. Should be in the mix again though when push comes to shove just a worry it'll be minor honours again.

Clean Sheet184
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-12| J: R P McLernon| T: B Haslam| OR:  132
6/1
Chased home talented Frodon on fencing debut at Fontwell, since disappointed over longer trip at Uttoxeter in October. Returns here over shorter journey and should be involved in the finish.
3
Horse silk
Daydream Island45
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: Finian O'Toole(5)| T: Mrs S Walton| OR:  80
150/1
Remains a maiden after 14 starts and on all known form he shouldn't be within swinging distance of the likely principles at the finish.
4

Gully's Edget123
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: B S Hughes| T: J M Jefferson| OR:  128
5/4
Lightly-raced sort, has run with credit in three starts over these obstacles though no surprise should he get tapped for toe at a crucial stage.

Mister Kit22
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-12| J: Tony Kelly| T: C Grant| OR:  130
5/2
Useful hurdler and made fair start over these obstacles last month at Musselburgh, was beginning to toil when blundering three out and forfeiting any chance. Could well do better.
6
Horse silk
150/1
Going to struggle on the evidence of last month's fencing debut at Wetherby over 3m, drops in trip this time but has it all to do.

Forecasts

Gully's Edge (5/4), Mister Kit (5/2), Wolf Sword (3/1), Clean Sheet (6/1), Daydream Island (150/1), Thedfactor (150/1)

Verdict

Not a strong contest by any means, Mister Kit was applying himself nicely at Musselburgh last month before a blunder late on rather took the gloss off. He may well be capable of better if the jumping holds out. Gully's Edge is another with potential, though he does tend to get found out for pace at crucial junctures. The standout piece of form comes from CLEAN SHEET who went very well behind Frodon at Fontwell in September. He didn't reproduce that effort in one subsequent start but would surely go close here if able to do so now. Wolf Sword wouldn't be winning out of turn either but there is a fear that he has developed a minor bout of second-itis lately.
  1. Clean Sheet
  2. Wolf Sword
  3. Mister Kit
