Progressive sort who routed a small field to win easily at Ludlow (2m, good to soft) last week - his third successive course win. Clearly well-treated under a 7lb penalty but had been turned over a short odds at Southwell so maybe not bombproof away from Ludlow.

Likeable type who finished fourth in a Listed race at Sandown in December (2m, good to soft), having won twice over hurdles previously on good ground. Fell when holding every chance at Taunton latest, no surprise to see him bounce back.

Some promise in bumpers for Anthony Mullins but hasn't really picked up the mantle for this yard in four starts over hurdles and doesn't seem to find much. Clearly the stable's second string on the face of it here.

Verdict

There is a lot to like about WISHFULL DREAMING'S profile and there is every chance he would have won from this mark at Taunton recently had he not tipped up at the second last. This looks a decent opportunity to gain some swift compensation, though Shantou Rock is clearly a progressive sort, even if he does have something to prove away from Ludlow. Westerndorf also warrants respect over a shorter trip.
