Jumped well to make all in a similar event over 2m1f here (good to soft) last month to notch a third win from his last five starts (all under Richard Johnson). Obvious claims if this rider gets the same tune on his debut for a new yard.
Won twice on the Flat in Ireland but remains winless from eight attempts over hurdles. No improvement for a switch of stables last year but interesting to see if respected new yard can coax improvement out of him.
Has always had ability but was becoming very disappointing over jumps until connections found him a suitable opportunity in a conditional jockeys seller at Stratford (2m, good to soft) last month and he duly obliged. More to do now.
Modest point-to-point form and has shown next to nothing at triple-digit odds in three runs in maiden and novice hurdle company. Sights lowered now but still not hard to look elsewhere.
A winner on the Flat in native Ireland but is now winless from 13 attempts over hurdles have dropped away very tamely at Taunton late last month. Hopes pinned on first-time blinkers.
Plenty of stamina, having won a 3m point-to-point and has run some good races over both hurdles and fences. Just touched off in this grade in a first-time visor at Southwell (2m, good to soft) on his last hurdle start and is an obvious contender.
Never going well in a first-time visor at Newbury last time, so usual cheekpieces restored. Not totally convincing but enters the equation on the form he showed to finish a runner-up at Fontwell and Wetherby in first two hurdle starts.
A modest maiden on the Flat and going the same way over hurdles, though glimmers of improvement when beaten less than 10L over 2m at Sandown last time (soft). Dropped a further 2lb but still more needed.
Showed up well in a Bumper here on decent ground first time out but never really built on that in two subsequent runs. Interesting to see him pitched straight into a selling event for his hurdling debut.
Forecasts
The Wexfordian (11/4), Gambol (3/1), Defining Year (4/1), Paddocks Lounge (7/1), Dusty Raven (15/2), Pension Madness (10/1), My Matador (25/1), Tg Boy (50/1), Hurricane Hunter (100/1)
Paddocks Lounge sets the benchmark on recent form but represents new connections here and no longer has the assistance of the champion jockey. Positive market vibes around Defining Year would be interesting but THE WEXFORDIAN is taken to atone for a narrow recent defeat in this grade with the slightly longer trip likely to work to his advantage. Dusty Raven looks the pick of the remainder.
