Useful hurdler when with his former stable but has been well below his best of late for this yard. Looks to be on a good mark if coming back to his best but that looked unlikely last time out when he again folded tamely after travelling well.
A much reduced hurdles mark was the catalyst for his Newcastle win on his penultimate start but he ran poorly on his next start. Reported to have bled on that Haydock start and still figures off a tempting mark although he does come with risks attached.
Has been in fair form over hurdles of late winning at Ayr in January and getting back to that same form over 2m again there last time out. Often goers from the front and has won over C&D but has proved vulnerable of marks this high in the past.
Has proved capable of winning in the past and may well have been unsuited by the change of tactics last time out here. Be interesting if a return to a more positive ride off a break bring him back to form here.
Owned by one half of the Grand National winning duo of One For Arthur this mare took advantage of a falling mark to win at Musselburgh on her penultimate start. The effect of the first-time cheekpieces didn't continue on her next start when pulled-up and she needs to find her Musselburgh form again here.
Yet to win in nine hurdles starts and his recent runs have not be that inspiring and others preferred here.
Long time since he showed his best form and has looked increasingly lazy in his races. Has looked laboured in blinkers before and it remains to be seen if they have a positive effect this time around.
Goes handicapping here on his first run for a new yard having shown a little promise for his previous yard. Has one standout piece of form to his name when finishing third at Hexham on his penultimate start and not badly handicapped on that run and a market watch is advised.
Has struggled with his jumping over hurdles but looked a lot better last time out at Ayr when coming back from a break to finish third to Surprise Vendor. Left on the same mark for that run (102) and give that he travelled well there and is fresh for the time of year he should have a decent chance of adding to his win record.
Has shown some reasonable form in the past but has made little impact this season and was pulled-up last time out.
New stable are in good form at the moment and that may spark a revival in this one's fortunes. Hasn't shown much as yet in handicaps and she probably needs a little more respite from the handicapper.
Form has rather an up-and-down look to it but has won two of his last four races with the latest coming off a 7lb lower mark at Newcastle when returned to hurdles after a first chase outing. Ran poorly last time out off this same mark and hard to know what to expect here.
Recent run-to-win ratio is modest with the last win coming back in May off a 2lb higher mark. Should be able to make an impression off this sort of mark based on his last two runs but not one to go overboard about even in this grade.
Forecasts
Benny's Secret (3/1), Sweet Holly (5/1), Lough Kent (8/1), Alizee De Janeiro (9/1), Sudski Star (10/1), Urban Kode (11/1), Suprise Vendor (11/1), Lyvius (12/1), Tomahawk Wood (14/1), Desert Island Dusk (16/1), Motion To Strike (20/1), Kalaharry (25/1), Winning Ticket (50/1)
Not the easiest event to decipher to close the card with a few featuring off decent marks based on their old form and a couple of potential improvers. Surprise Vendor has struggled before off marks this high and he might struggle to cope with BENNY’S SECRET now that one has a fair turnaround in the weights from their last meeting and comes here the fresher of the pair. Lough Kent is still well handicapped and the Grand National winning trainer Lucinda Russell would have chances with both Alizee De Janiero and Urban Kode. Desert Island Dusk would come into the equation but the most interesting runner is handicap debutante Kalaharry for his new yard.
- Benny's Secret
- Kalaharry
- Urban Kode
